Is anybody else infuriated and/or disgusted by the pop-up ads that have taken over the internet? The other dayI went into Chrome settings to see if somehow I had unchecked 'Anti pop up' but no; it was still on. Guess what took over the page while I was doing this? Yep. Anybody know of anti-popup software that works?

Same thing here. At first Chrome seemed to be the answer, but here in the last few, those annoying pop-ups have been going into ot.

I don't know how you went about it. But here is how you should go about it.

1. Click on the three bars on the right side of the browser at the top.

2. Scroll down and click on SETTINGS

3. Scroll down and click on EXTENSIONS

4. Disable any Chrome Add on here.

From what you are describing it sounds like you don't have AD-Block or Ad-Block Plus, it sounds more like you have a program called Ad Blocker which I found to be useless.

I took chrome and most things Goo-ogle off of my computers. It seems that a lot of this is Goo-ogle driven by and with their targeted advertising. I do use gmail. Otherwise I use firefox with do not track me plus and ghostery. I suffer very few pop ups and that seems to help my blood pressure and attitude. I also have my firewall snugged up quite tightly.
Hope this helps.

The main problem we have had here on the Hhog is the video pop ups that suddenly start spouting their message.
It seems that the bunch in Miami may be getting them under control as there have been fewer and fewer lately. I have kinked several back to them for their perusal in an attempt to rid us of them.

Best way to avoid them is to change the security settings on your machine, that will help block some of them and also be sure your blocker is turned on.

Just tried using the S4. Apparently the S4 doesn't support it yet.

I did this and the only thing that appeared was a "you have no new notifications"advisory. I should also admit that I am technically retarded and none of my attempts on the 'puter ever work as they do for other folk.

Olcoach, I don't think you have the Google approved Ad-Block, I had that same problem on my wifes machine. I don't have one Add coming up. And as I mentioned it would should the Ad Blocker extensions in the Extension folders.

Ad Blocker plus. Blocks the Video's

I do not experience any of that. Included with what I listed above I also run No Script.

Thanks to all who wrote to agree that pop ups are a pain. The first advice I took was to swap out Ad Blocker for AdBlock+. Pop ups have almost disappeared, but the 'Back' and 'Forward' arrows have stopped working! I have no idea what the connection is (or is the timing just malevolent fate?) but in any case I'm engaged in a fight to the finish.
