OK, I will admit upfront that I am technology challenged. I have seen many many photographers use Instagram, so I am trying to find out how to use it. I went to the Instagram site online and registered using my laptop. Now what? I can't find any instructions anywhere that will help me learn to use it. Is it only for Cell phone usage (if so then I have a problem, as I really hate cell phones. I am a pencil and paper kind of guy) I do have an android phone, but have never added any apps to it as I really only carry it because my wife makes me. I really am technology challenged. Is there somewhere I can go to find information about Instagram and then how to find and follow photographers? I realize this is really a basic question for all of this group, but I can not work with something I do not understand. Any guidance and advice will be truly appreciated.

Looks like you went the same way I did when it came to joining the service. Your Parents were Marines and you went Army. My family is all Air Force and I went Navy. Dad was at Hickam Field, Dec. 7th, 1941 Pearl Harbor Harbor as well. (Tomorrow is 75th Anniversary of the attack. I lost him Dec 8th, 1998, one day after the 57th anniversary due to ALS) He was with his squadron of B-24 pilots on their way to Tripoli and needed the Navy to get them there. I spend 3 years in the Navy as a Boatswains Mate (#1 Sea going Rate and I have zero days sea time) My dad has 24 days as that is how long it took to get to Tripoli. Air Force with more sea days than a sailor. My bonus was that when I joined the Navy, the Officer that swore me in was my Father a LCol. My older brother was there as well to witness and they were both in their Air Force Uniforms. I have two nieces and a nephew that are all Air Force as well. I was just the Black Sheep in the family. I joined the Navy in '66 to see the world and got out in '69. Stationed in Pensacola Fla., Andros Island Bahamas (where I began Scuba Diving) and the Naval Sub Base in Conn. Zero Days at sea.

If you have never been in the service, then you probably do not understand the humor. Most military jokes are between one service and another or between enlisted and officers. (EX enlisted VET Swabbie myself) It is our way of having fun and showing some respect between services I think. Thank You to all branches of the Service and my fellow Service men and women for your Service (something that I think should be a requirement for the Commander in Chief --- at least one tour, so the Salute is actually warranted, and for all members of Congress as well. Just my personal thought) I enjoy all military humor.

I started using BBF with underwater photography. When you have water surge moving you in and out, using BBF and then just continuously shooting instead of the lag between focussing and shooting gave me a better opportunity to get an infocus shot while I was moving about. It was a learning curve, but once I realized that setting the focus and then moving the camera until the subject was in focus was much faster for me.

An old Navaho quote: Only a government thinks that if you cut an inch off the top of a blanket and add it to the bottom of the blanket, the blanket will be longer. Just a thought about daylight saving time.

My Dentist has an area for local photographers to exhibit and sell their work over about a 3 month period. That way she gets new photos on her walls every few months and her clients get to see new artwork/photos each time they come in. I have been asked to place my travel and underwater photos there in December for a few months. Will have to see how that works out.

I will admit that I am not a Heavy Metal or Anger Music type of music listener, and had never heard of David before I saw this video the first time a few days ago, but will admit that I do love this version of a Classic. Also you could hear ever word of it, which , in my humble opinion, is what music and Lyrics are supposed to be about. Being able to hear both together is awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks everyone for all your advice. As nothing is cast in stone right now, (but will be within the next day or so) we are looking at adding a couple of more days on the front side. I do want some time to do some exploring as well, and perhaps this is to aggressive a trip to do all at once. With all the suggestions I am gratefully receiving, perhaps I should just move out there.... :-)

I am worried that we may not have enough scheduled time for this trip and may have to cut some of it out, but everything looks so close on my road map :-) Not sure of driving times etc. and want to have time to spend as necessary. Being the tourist, I would like to see as much as possible but realize that we may not be able to see it all. Originally wanted to spend 6 weeks out that way, but things change (like finances) and have to do what we can, as best as we can. If we miss something, well we will have to go back in the future. Big trip this year is Tokyo to Singapore in October/November so that cut into other trips for this year. Next year, who knows??? Thanks for your reply.

I do have an 18-300mm lens but does not get as sharp of photos as I would like. I also have 105 mm Macro, 60mm Macro, and a 10-17 mm Tokina lens. I am trying to lighten my load for Air travel, so was just trying to get the biggest bang for the buck so to speak, without carrying everything with me. Thank you for your advice. I appreciate any and all help from my fellow UHHers.

Thank you for your advice. I am over 62 and have had the senior pass for years. My wife and I have been driving all over the US, a little at a time (18 day trips) so I am looking forward to another trip. Been retired now for 4 years and am bouncing around enjoying retirement. I will look into the 200-500 mm lens to rent. Last time I was in Yellowstone was in 1957 so it has been awhile. Thanks again for your help
