This totally amazed me. I had a lot of fun with kites in my youth. But, I never achieved this kind of control with them. Most times when there were two or more flying together we ended up tangled.

Black's is a store brand. They are, or were, a camera store in Canada.

Never heard of "Blacks" filters? Perhaps an obscure commercial brand or a store brand?

I remember something called "Stick Tack". It was used in little balls to stick papers to walls temporarily. But Tacky Wax, nope never heard of it.

I have taken pictures with two lenses I have. A Tamron 17 to 50 2.8 without image stabilization and a 18 to 50 Canon kit lens with stabilization. I have two pictures of the same fall leaf and find the image from the Canon to have more detail than the one from Tamron. There is a major difference in price in these lenses and I thought the Tamron would produce better results. Both images at AV 4.0.

Does the image stabilization produce the better results. Here are the images. I am not sure why the EXIF data is not with the image.

The EXIF data clearly shows that the exposures are different. This affects detail as well.

Nice cars!! I'm puzzled by the one in the 4th shot. I can clearly read the "Supercharged" badge on the fender, but the name on the front can't be made out completely. Looks like "CRANA" but unable to make out any more of it.

ISO is set automatically by the DX code on the film can. In your case the number 400 should show up on the display.

This is absolutely correct. The EOS 600 series bodies along with may others all had DX code reading. Film speeds all set automatically.

Last time I was in Oregon it was the same way. I pulled into the pumps to top up the rental. I got out walked up to the pump to fuel up. An attendant rushed over and advised me that I couldn't pump my own gas. State law he said.

When I lived in NJ, up until 4 years ago, they still filled your gas tank. It was illegal to fill your own tank. I don't know if that is still true or not.

I saw it coming. I know they did tricky things with fuel fillers back in the day.

The Stolen Car

The proud owner of a magnificent 1956 Chevrolet convertible, wrote to say he had restored the car to perfection over the last few years, and sent this:

On a very warm summer afternoon he decided to take his car to town. It needed gas, as the gauge was practically on empty, but he wanted ice cream, so he headed first to his favourite ice cream shop.

He had trouble finding a parking space and had to park the car down a side street.

He noticed a group of young guys standing around smoking cigarettes and eyeing the car rather covetously. He was a bit uneasy leaving it there, but people often take interest in such an old and well-preserved car, so he went off to enjoy his ice cream.
The line at the ice cream shop was long and it took him quite a while to return to his car. When he did, his worst fears were realized... his car was gone.
He called the police and reported the theft.
About ten minutes later the police called him to say they had found the car abandoned near a gas station a few miles out of town.
It was unharmed and he was relieved. It seems just before he called, the police had received a call from a young woman who was an employee at a self-service gas station. She told them that three young men had driven in with this beautiful old convertible. One of them came to the window and prepaid for 20 dollars worth of gas.
Then all three of them walked around the car. Then they all got in the car and drove off, without filling the tank.

The question is, why would anybody steal a car, pay for gas that they never pumped and then abandon the car later and walk away?
NO FAIR PEEKING ! !
IF YOU GIVE UP----

I'm a Canon person. I didn't even own a camera until I was older. A friend of mine had a Pentax that I shot with on occasion. It worked well and I liked it. Another friend had a Canon, I borrowed it a few times and really liked it. The company I was working for, at the time I finally bought my own camera, informed me that I was being sent to Hawaii on a business trip. I was asked if I would mind staying there for the duration of the work that needed to be accomplished. If I chose to stay they would buy a ticket for my girlfriend and she could come with me. So I chose to stay for the duration. WELL, I was NOT going to spend 2 months in Hawaii without a camera. So I went to the local camera store to see what they had. In my price range was a Canon 650 with a 50mm f1.8 II lens. So that's what I purchased. While in Hawaii I bought a 75-300mm f4-5.6 USM lens for it. I used the camera quite a bit during my stay and was able to learn most of the operation of it intuitively, I had to, no manual came with it. It was easy to learn and I got reasonably competent with it. So it's been Canon ever since. I've always wanted an Canon A-1 too. I bought one of those a couple years ago. So I'm a Canon guy through and through.

Hi Folks, well I've been away for awhile. Haven't had much of anything interesting to post. But, my luck has changed. I ran across this old General Store way out in the country about 50 miles south of Nashville. Looks like it's been vacant for some time. The sign above say's "Cheatum Springs General Store", I wonder if they did "Cheat-um", maybe that why they went out of business. I also noticed a horseshoe over the door. This is an old tradition that's supposed to bring good luck. Hope you enjoy my lastest find. Since the lighting was awful. Very bright and sunny, I tried my hand at processing this as an HDR to bring out the drama and detail a bit more.

Should this actually be Banff National Park? No "I" and only one syllable. This is a beautiful park in Alberta Canada, please keep it that way.

This is a image my wife JoAnn took in 1987... It was developed but unfortunately she did not have time to print.
This was shot with medium format Mamiya RB 67 using 120 film.
I've got tons of old her negatives to scan...So every now and then I'll post one of her works.
She would like that...
