Great photo. Super composition. A definite candidate to enlarge for your home or office!

I was privileged to fly several models of the C-130 Hercules during my U.S.Air Force career (tactical airlift version, the rescue version and special operations version). In the latter two, we were able to refuel helicopters while airborne. None were designed for passenger comfort. Ear plugs or ear muffs we always a good idea. Sometimes a blanket helped. There was no "indoor plumbing" in any of the models that I flew, so it was smart to plan ahead! The new "J-model C-130" does have rest room facilities (the main reason is because there are so many female crew members now---thanks ladies).

You can, but it can be very clumsy depending on the configuration of the vehicle and number of people on board. "Bean Bag" is much easier to use.

A "bean bag" would be useful. You rest it on the roofline of the safari vehicle, allowing you to steady the longer, heavier lenses.

I broker may photos down to the best of the best and go online to "Snapfish.com" and assemble a photo book with comments identifying where the photos were made and any amplifying information that may apply. They have lots of "specials" and discounts. Makes it easy when friends ask, "How was your trip?" Just hand them the book.

I have been to Africa twice (Kenya the first time and Zimbabwe and Botswana the second). My recommendation is to go with the 70-300mm lens on your 5DM4 and pickup a point and shot or bridge camera with a decent zoom lens. Rational: On safaris, you will get surprisingly close to the animals and 300mm may be adequate. The point and shoot/bridge camera will give you the added reach you might occasionally need and would help you avoid having to change lens in dusty conditions.

The 24-70 will be your "go to" lens for everyday photos. The 50mm will do well also in dark churches. And, the wide angle is excellent for some architectural photos. Sounds like you have it covered!

Next week, I will be taking a French river cruise from Lyon to Arles and a follow-on visit to Marseilles. I have set aside the following gear for the trip. I have a Canon 6D with 24-70 mm and 70-200 mm lenses; a Canon G10; and a Canon SX50. I thought my 6D with the 24-70 mm lens would be my "walk-around" setup, with the 70-200 mm lens to used for shots requiring more reach (i.e. photographs from the boat to objects on shore, etc.). The G10 would be used for in-door photos and situations where a bulky camera setup is impractical. I plan on using the SX50 when extreme reach is needed. I practice packed this equipment, along with associated battery chargers, filters, SD cards and a flash attachment in my "back pack" camera bag and, needless to say, it is rather heavy. My question is: Should a just suck it up and go "as planned" or should I pair down this gear to lessen the weight? If the latter is suggested, what should I do without?

Don't forget to submerge the camera in a bowl of rice to complete the drying process (I use Rice Select Texmati brand).

Ireland is the most welcoming of countries and the most photogenic. You won't find a friendlier group of people. Make sure to and visit a few "pubs" and enjoy the food and beverage (the pubs themselves can be great photo ops). Johnny Cash wrote a song years ago called "Forty Shades of Green", inspired by a train trip he took there. His reference to the shades of green is an understatement! Unless you stay entirely in the cities, there will be no shortage of opportunities to photograph sheep in Ireland, since wool is important to their economy. I have visited the country twice and would return in a heartbeat. No matter where you go, it is a photographers delight! PS: Don't avoid the so called "tourist traps" (Cliffs of Mohr, Aran Island, Dublin, Waterford, Blarney Castle)---they are an integral part of Ireland!

Excellent series. I have the Keys on my "bucket list". I was in Key West briefly off of a cruise ship but would love to make the complete drive down. I am sure that the photo ops are abundant!
