Hi , yes, thanks for th epopper link. I knew about the limits between manufacturers, and their rt equipment, so what I was wondering if anyone had produced something to gt around that..'cracked the code' if you like of the canon transmission and started producing receivers to be compatible...

shame it has not happened yet..maybe given time..just have to wait and see

Just wondering if any one has come across a receiver that can fire any flash connected to it from the 600EX-RT radio transmitter output.

I know about optical, etc etc, but not what I am getting at.
Would be nice to be able to buy a receiver that picked up the rt signal from the 600 and fired any flash.

Wondered if stuff like pocket wizard receiver worked on same frequency ?

you really should check them out ( Digital Rev)
I did research before I bought from them and they had a good record.

No hype they just do what they say

did you take a look a shootshifter? the link I posted earlier?

even if it is not use now..it is a great bit of software...especially for the day you forget to set the time on one camera..and leave it set on summer time..or the time zone of the last place you visited.

$518 USdollar.

And no, I would be 100% that it is genuine..Digital Rev seems to be a reliable company 25 years or more in operation..all paperwork etc looks good.

I am very aware of counterfeit products and pretty sure these are good.

In the past year I have bought the 5D MkIII, the 70-200 f2.8,
24-70 f2.8
Olympus zx-2, batteries, filters, remote control units, memory cards, etc etc...always 100 % service..and always quicker than local UK suppliers

I use light room and seem to remember it working and sorting just fine

If not then try and use Shootshifter, sto first sort by date/time and from within shootshifter, do a sequential re name.

might be worth checking the AF menu .

I can not compare I am afraid..I have only ever had the 5D3

I have the sam lens combo and all seems fine to me.

I was with a 5D2 owner the other day..and she found the focus speed of the mk3 3 better than the mk 2

My new flash gun arrived yesterday..

Canon 600EX-RT

I was after a 580 or a 600 version..and the RT bit on the end..I did not even notice..I have o use for radio triggering of other flash units at the moment..and unlikely I will..so was a bit annoyed with myself for not ordering the non RT version..as I assumed it would be cheaper..so I went to the site ( digital Rev) ..to see how much I had cost myself by not reading carefully...

Big smile...both model the same price :)

Amazing..would not get that service from a UK company

Argos price for same flash £533
Jessops / John Lewis £469.

I paid £327 delivered

Yes, that is a good idea.

I actuslly went a step further, and created new test catalogues to play with this function.

If importing a catalogue of 300 shots that you previously exported, and edited just 6 shots, it only re imports the 6 changed images... Welll I am guessing it does not actually copy the file itself, just the metadata

Works well for what i need.

When you export files to a new catalog the exported files are removed from your main to the new catalog. When you merge it takes the files exported back into your main catalog so there is no syncing needed as there is plunge copy of each fie. I hope I made sense!

I just tried a Catalogue export on LR..and no, it does not delete the data from the main catalogue as you thought...maybe there are preferences that specify that action if you wish.

From the farm reservoir yesterday...one of the local cats was getting close to the ducklings..and mum was doing her best to dissuade the cat from coming closer.
