Fire ANY flash via Canon 600Ex-RT radio?

Just wondering if any one has come across a receiver that can fire any flash connected to it from the 600EX-RT radio transmitter output.

I know about optical, etc etc, but not what I am getting at.
Would be nice to be able to buy a receiver that picked up the rt signal from the 600 and fired any flash.

Wondered if stuff like pocket wizard receiver worked on same frequency ?

Per B&H on July 15, 2013:
The only equipment currently compatible with the Canon 600EX-RT Speedlite flash is either another Canon 600EX-RT Speedlite Flash or the Canon ST-E3-RT Wireless Trigger. There are no other wireless flash triggers in our inventory that are compatible with the Canon radio flash system.

Most all flash triggers are brand specific, and you cannot use one brand to trigger another brand's radio remotes, such as you cannot use trigger Impact remotes with PocketWizard remotes, or trigger PocketWizard remotes using Elinchrom's Skyport system, and so on and so forth... You must use the triggers that are dedicated for the system that is to be triggered, and at this time, no other brand is compatible with Canon's wireless system.

That being said a Pocket Wizard system or Radio Popper system can be used but you would be using their transmitters.

For Radio Popper compatability see:
http://www.radiopopper.com/#!product-compatibility/ctxb

Not sure about Pocket Wizard compatability as I use Radio Poppers...you'll have to check their web site/product literature.

Hi , yes, thanks for th epopper link. I knew about the limits between manufacturers, and their rt equipment, so what I was wondering if anyone had produced something to gt around that..'cracked the code' if you like of the canon transmission and started producing receivers to be compatible...

shame it has not happened yet..maybe given time..just have to wait and see

Manufacturers develop proprietary equipment (i.e. Sony) to make more money and maintain their market share. I don't really blame them as it is the Capitalist way.

I'm sure some Chinese firm will reverse engineer a universal receiver and bring it to market soon.

I looked on eBay: search "receiver for canon 600ex-rt"
There are a couple of items similar to Radio Popper but cheaper where you use their transmitter. I did not see if they would accomodate ETTL, high speed sync, etc.

I thought about this a bit more.....
Why would Canon make a receiver that would control their older (580Ex, etc.) flashes with a 600EX-RT when they are in the business of making flashes, not controls? The profit for them would be in the +$500 flash opposed to the -$150 control to extend the life of their already sold legacy flashes. Business often gets in the way of our needs and wants. We'll have to wait for the Chinese to clone the Canon 600EX-RT controls....then again....what is the market? RadioPopper and PocketWizard already occupy the high and mid-price end of that functional market.
