Don't we have a forum for HDR?
Nikon shoots 5
This is a good lens to do a search on. I had a 50-500 non IS. Took some practice for BIF - AF touchy but better glass than 150-500. I paid $700 on Craig s list many years ago.
During a four day surfing contest I'll shoot about 1500-1800 raw pictures a day, so the IS is working a lot.
I set my Canon 7D C1 ev of 2 and C2 ev of 1 giving me five shots. Using tripod and timer
Canon fixed the problem. Regular calibration and clean was $359.00 after they got into it. The gyro need parts another $139.00 Total cos with tax and shipping was $563.00
Is it possible to overwork the IS System??

Found the answer to "SEL [ ]" From the Canon equipment forum

"SEL[ ]" on the top LCD panel means you have moved the camera into the mode that allows you to select the AF points... This is normal . You must have bumped the AF point selection button. If you half-press the shutter release button it will take you right back to the shooting ready mode.
The running I hear and feel has just started. Ive had this lens for several years and never had these symptoms
All at once my image stabilizer motor is running for a second or two, focus lockup is still fast, but stabilizeris running. I have reset all the switches more than once.
I changed the Custom Function Lens drive when AF is impossible to off C.FnIII: Autofocus/Drive. AF or Manual it's the same problem. I have switched cameras 7D to 5D2 no improvement. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.
Very Good. I have some ideas about shooting horse pictures but it's hard to find this subject near the beach.
What we need is someone with a Canon 7D who has found a site that works. I made several attempts but no luck.
Go to the BIF/BOW section review some of the first posts on the page about the subject. "Primer for BIF" is a good start.
There are two rings, Zoom and Focus. Zoom is manual, Focus can be set to AF or Manual, depend on your preference.
Enjoy the new experience.
There is a lock on the lens to keep the Zoom from extending. It's on the same plan as you scale for 18-270
I have that lens. I've never been happy with it. It's soft not real crisp pictures. Give it a try, my Canon 5D setting are aperture value f2.8 at 17mm the aperture will adjust itself to a max of 4.0 at 35mm. Using other f stops it gets worse. Practice you may get better results.
