A 12 mega pix. should do ya just fine. Canon p&s are reasonably priced. I've taken many photos of my paintings in the past. Unless you have a lighting setup I found that photographing paintings outside on a cloudy day, white background, brings good results as well.

Hello,
I dabble in oil painting and I would like some input as to an inexpensive camera I can use to take photos of my work. I have a Cannon Sureshot but it only has 6 pixels and I think I need something a little better. I need to keep the expense down, so if anyone could give me an idea, I would appreciate it. By the way I love the pictures on this website, their fabulous. Thanks.

Thanks for the link, I checked it out but this item is much too heavy for me. It looks pretty nice though. Hope it works out for ya.

I'm needin' to buy a new tripod but I don't have a lot of "dough". Looks like I've settled on a Manfrotto 294. I have a choice of a 3 way pan head or a QR ball head. My only experience is with cheaper pan heads and I'm not impressed with them. Some input from members on both would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I like the flexibility a ball head offers but getting it level can be a bitc . . . um, pain.

I don't have a checklist before shooting, but I do have one before putting my camera away for the day.

1. Return ISO to 200
2. Return mode to aperture priority
3. Turn bracketing off
4. Turn release mode to "single"
5. Format card(s)
6. Replace battery if less than 50%
7. Replace filter with UV (if I had used different filters)
8. Clean filter, viewfinder and monitor

By doing all that, the camera is in a known state when I pick it up again and the next shooting day starts easier.

Microfiber only here.

I use microfibers all the time for quick touch-ups, but the wipes are best for fingerprints, waterspots, pine tar and lipstick.

Lipstick on you lens??? That's the first time I've heard of such a thing! :)

I always kiss my lens for luck Fran, don't use lipstick though.

Lol!!! This is quite the forum. Last week a member said if it were legal she would marry her canon 24-70mm 2.8 lens she loved it so much.

Mudshark and Pepper have said it for me. Where is it writ that "family" grants an implied license to offend or abuse. Family places a responsibility on each member to help, support and defend the others. It does not grant a license to transgress upon the right of the other members.

Alienmurphy's daughter welcomed him to take pictures at her party. She had an obligation not to invite thieving scum to place others at hazard and she had a responsibility to do all she could to determine who the thieving scum was. She was wrong to blame dads trusting generosity for his loss.

Sorry Tina but I think your head is screwed on backwards on this issue.
