Nature is cruel and only the fittest will survive. I have some photos which I would call sad and I wonder what the UH community thinks about posting the not so beutiful side of life in the wilderness.I am not talking about bloody gore or a half eaten human by bears but dying Bald eagle, drowned moose calf and so.Unfortunately such accidents happen in the real life and are a part of our life up here hidden from the tourists.
So what are your thoughts about this "ultimate reality" topic?

Nature is cruel and only the fittest will survive.... (show quote)

I must say, it is very considerate of you to ask. If you do post them - in the photo section - post them under an appropriate heading.

Post them with a warning in the title of "graphic material" for those that may not want to view. Personally, I believe they would be a documentation of life and not objectionable to me however, a dead bird hanging in a tree by fishing line aroused the ire of a number of folks on this forum. With you Ivan on whatever your decision is.

We live in the real world, stuff happens. It creates some emotion to see dead or dying animals, and I would much rather see and feel something than go through life with blinders on. UGHHs should be able to make their own decisions as to whether they want to be reminded that its a big and sometimes cruel world out there. Post them with the warning, those who choose to view them will and the others can look at the many many happy warm and fuzzy creatures posted here.

I agree. Life and death comes in all forms. While not many want to dwell on the ugliness of death, it is a fact of life.

Label them and make sure you have a thick skin. Someone is bound to complain.

I do not frequent the picture postings, but I would be interested in these.

They other day the most interesting shot closest to my door, was a very flat and red dead rat.

I then, was sitting on my stoop (I'm a city dweller) and would have liked to video the responses of walkers.

Death happens everywhere. What amazes me, is how I never see the body bags.

Why would anyone want to look at such pictures?

Why would anyone want to take them?

Reality is reality. Nature will take its course and humans will do what they do if we like it or not. OK so you think people should photograph only beautiful positive objects, obviously you are not aware of the fact that e.g. Pulitzer prize winners in categories "Breaking News Photography" and "Feature Photography" mostly show suffering and tragedies. Why would anybody want to take photos like that and why would anyone want to look at such pictures? Because it is life and we should be aware....
Strangely enough you list among your interests fishing, guns and hunting where the goal is to terminate the life of another creature.I do not kill anything and I am a vegeterian so I am asking you why would anybody want to kill another creature? If you are a hunter/fisherman I am sure you have a photo record of your kills or am I mistaken? Why would anybody want to take or look at such pictures? I smell hypocrisy.
Thank you for your opinion,Ivan.

Thank you.

A voice of reason, not idiotic bullshit.

Censors be dammed.

We photograph what is really there, not politically correct ideals.

So many folks seem to think "nature" is bambi and thumper scurrying in the meadow.
Nature is hard, cruel, violent. The survival of the fittest.
The weak, the slow, the injured and sick die. It is often not attractive or pretty. It is simply nature.

from my standpoint all of nature should be available for folks to experience.
Ivan is well known and highly respected both in his skills and his integrity.
With an appropriate heading those that wish to view the images should be permitted to do so. Those that have no desire can choose not to.
