I just got my first DSLR. Nikon D3100 to be specific. I'm having trouble understanding the relationship and uses of ISO to f/stops and aperture. I have a basic understanding of what each one does, but what I mean is how to use them in conjunction to produce the shot you're looking for.

Hi CR, All of the above is a great way to learn. For me shooting photos loading them on my computer and working with them helped me understand the information I was learning. The more I shoot the better I get. My camera is with me wherever I go. Have fun :)

I love doing babies, but man, when they are older than 2 weeks old it's really alot more difficult to work with them. Took this little guy three hours to settle down and then he slept for about 10 minutes!

Thoughtful and well executed . Very nice work :)

A picture of "The Pope"..... What do you think? Yes, I want criticism

Something I do and have to watch for is trying to get to much in a photo. The tower , for me , is a distraction . I really like the exposure of the statue . Just a little shadow adjustment would be something to try. Have fun :)

Trying different lighting and new closeup lens setting was 1" f18

Hi Glenn, I don't do a lot of macro, so this is just an observation. Focus looks soft and there appears to be some shadows. I have seen some very good macro work where a ring flash was used and the result was tack sharp and evenly exposed. I have seen some very good macro work on this site so better insight should be coming. :D

Greetings again all,
The first post of this title was poofed because there was no photo added in time... so trying again.

Most of you know that DB has passed the reigns for this endeavor of hers to me, so I'm determined to keep it going, as it was a great challenge and motivator for keeping us shooting fresh stuff!

Let's see how many interesting interpretations we can get for this one and do DB and ourselves... Proud!

** Remember the Rules**

There ARE none except please keep it to one post per person... and if possible, one PHOTO per person would help keep the page count manageable, too.

There are no prizes other than the accolades and praise being lavished upon you for such photographic prowess and amazing sense of humor/interpretation.
Greetings again all, br The first post of this tit... (show quote)

Hi, Folks

I went to my first Boise Camera Club meeting this week and joined. They seem a good group with an interesting program.

One thing they do each month is have picture feedback sessions. They have prints one week and projection another. Next week is projection so I am going to give it my first shot.

I'd appreciate feedback on the first three I am considering showing. You only get to show three each month. You get to rank them, too. Don't be bashful...I consider myself a beginner in this field and I can try others.

Regards,
Larry Leach

Hi Larry, I have been a part of that kind of critique and it is very helpful. You will learn from every photo shown, good and bad :)

This is a real stunner... and apro-po for Veteran's Day, too!

(and you can get rid of those cranes... or maybe I could... or someone else here in the forum who's so-inclined)

Great photo ! I would like to see it without the cranes :)

Even if I learn something new about photography every single day ... I know full well I will never know everything.
One thing I do know is the critique (for the most part) is only about the photo and not the photographer personally. We all see things differently.. and in my opinion thats what makes this all worth while. How boring would it be if we all took exactly the same kind of photos.

So true :)
