Decline unless you feel 100% comfortable with the equipment. You will also face unexpected problems that you're going to have to deal with on the Fly. You basically have to be prepared for everything. This is too important of an occasion to make mistakes at. It's tough enough for a professional photographer. You may face lighting that's different than when you went out to take the test photos. I am never had a wedding that went the way everybody told me it was going to go. You have to learn to be flexible. That's why I said you got feel a hundred percent comfortable here equipment. Everything really has to come second nature to you. Anyway good luck with whatever you decide.

It is a top rated crop frame camera. Don't let it's low price an small size fool you.

Unfortunately your comment is very true. I thought journalism for a while and pressed very hard on ethics. Unfortunately, all the other things the internet too many people a voice who don't consider the ethics of what they're doing.

Good article. It depends on what you are trying to achieve. I've been critized for some of my news stories or projects. First of all you have to respect the people your photographing. I'm very careful to ensure they don't know I'm taking their picture because I want them in their normal state. I have photographs that will break your heart. How else can we show these unfortunate human tragedies if we can't show people how they live on a daily basis? How else can we show the tragedies of War without these pictures both does human tragedies? A picture of a destroyed building is not the same thing.

Perhaps the hardest thing is not to get involved in the story. I don't know of any photo journalist that wouldn't want to personally help each of these people. But that's not your job. Your job is to documented so the rest of the world can see and react.

He says its "generally" a good idea. A 1/10 sec in a fast moving sport is a lifetime. However, he does say if it hurts composition, turn it off. Also, you should be on a tripod or mono-pod. Handholding with IS on can create problems. For example, if you are hand-holding at a decent fast shutter and you have fast moving action (runners) you photos may not come out as sharp (or a little blurry) as when you turned of the IS. That's because IS can't compensate well for camera movement and subject movement, especially at a distance.
Bottom line, find out what works for you.

You need to turn this over to the track offices who can make that decision. There are several issues involved in this and involve the track, the horse (owners0, and the jockey. When you enter into a commercial agreement that's not the original the process starts over. Maybe the horse owners or the jockey don't want to be see endorsing a commercial product or have other endorsement deals. It's different than just a picture of a horse participating in a race.

I'd be interested in looking at the technical specs of it. Very intriguing concept.

I have a 1dx. I bought it rather than the 1dx2 because I don't do video and I didn't like the different card slots. I chose it over the 5d4.I'm a press photographer. I wanted something that was very rugged and had a high shutter life expectancy. The camera is everything that I've wanted in a camera. I'm still not sure if it's worth nearly double the price. Batteries are very expensive and you can't use a additional add-on battery pack. It is larger and heavier. It is the camera that I use as my primary camera. I also have 5 ds. One feature I really like in the 1dx is its ability to record audio. This way I don't have to keep a notepad with me. I do know some people that have the camera and don't use that feature. But I really needed it. There other features in it that I really like also. I'm glad I bought it. By the way I saved $2,000 on it so it just cost me a little over 4,000 since it was a discontinued model. That made it more cost competitive to the 5d4.

But sensor size has other issues. Color saturation, low-light sensitivity, lens availability.... for example, do they make a wide-angle lens if you do that type of shooting for your camera. Remember you always have to factor in the crop factor when choosing a lens.

The perspective is only one of the advantages. It's ability to change dept of field without using f/stops or distance to subject is amazing. It's ability to make very accurate panos to be stitched and not worrying about parallax is great.

Look at commercial magazines to see what the industry is accepting. Photo mags don't always do that.

Unfortunately, according to my local camera store this company is not known for great quality control. Try out all the suggestions are given but in the end it may be the this copy of the unit itself

While you can change the f stops and shutter speed in program mode, they will revert back to initial setting in a couple of minutes if you don't do anything like tap or press the shutter button. I find this annoying on Canon's. On my Sony, if you change the settings they stay there until you change the program settings again.
