And once again an OP asks a question and, instead of clarification, the thread descends into personal abuse in two or three responses. Good grief, folks! Kindergarteners play better than some of these supposed adults.

Keeping the status quo and remaining totally dependent on large, profit-hungry, unaccountable insurance companies for healthcare isn't a desirable solution either. I wonder what Connelly has to say about that. Well, he probably doesn't really care as he has enough personal wealth not to worry about paying his own healthcare bills.

Its well established that one of the major causes of personal bankruptcy, if not THE major cause, is medical expenses. Five years ago my wife was hospitalized with diverticulitis for one week. There were several MRIs, etc. The final bill was $135,000.00. We do have good insurance, but how many folks without insurance could pay that? And, BTW, this was at a "non profit" hospital.

It is so sad that people who are so against the thought of Americans having access to health care will resort to lies to argue against the ACA. This is a continuing example, and not the first time this has been posted on UHH. HB 3200 never passed - this diatribe is entirely irrelevant. And as I have said for the last 5 years - if you have an alternative plan, I'm all ears. But people want to bash the ACA and Obama, but have so far not had any suggestions for an alternative. They need to "put up or shut up".

Where are the alternatives to "ObamaCare" to fixing our health care delivery system? I haven't heard any from opponents to the Act, except for, I guess, more of the same old same old. And we all know how well that has worked, given our dismal national rates for infant mortality, etc, as compared to the rest of the world.

Have you ever thought that they might be in "Witness Protection" or the IRS or FBI is looking for them? From what some members have said here, maybe even the Secret Service is looking for them. LOL. For the rest of our "In Hiding" members, they just like to keep their location or home state incognito so they don't embarrass themselves. If you've read some of the controversy in the "Chit-Chat" section you'll understand their hesitancy in giving their location. Others are just lazy.

Better yet would be if we had a reputable site to confirm something since Snopes has been proven to be a left learning site.

And can you cite the "proof" of which you speak? Or is it merely that Snopes torpedoes a lot of your favorite fantasies?

It would be nice if those posting inflammatory material would run it past snopes.com before putting crap like this out there wasting members' time and the site's bandwidth, not to mention making the OP look foolish.

Anyone who've had to grade English class papers can read the "paragraph." After grading freshman college essays my spelling went to h***, I'd seen so many misspellings I didn't know what was correct. ;-)

Phew! How many exchanges before this "discussion" descended into personal insults? Why can't members of this forum learn to be polite to each other?

I'll have to try that. I also object to that doltish response.

I must admit I have not heard of Cabell but after a short bit of research I find his books available for the Kindle for free. Any particular book you would recommend?

Jurgen is a good starting point. I'll have to refresh my memory as to the order in which the four book core of his many books dealing with the Life of Manuel ought to be read. Do let me know if Jurgen strikes your fancy.

BTW, Jurgen was brought up on obscenity charges, which really spurred its popularity and sales in the '20s. The obscenity is all erudite innuendo, which would hardly faze anyone today. :-)
