Much of PS6 is devoted to design and 4 color printing. Lightroom is strictly photography and image retrieval. It enables you to store a thumbnail of your images on your main drive, linking to your originals stored on specified internal or external drives. Manipulations are non destructive actions until exported, at which time they are executed on a COPY of your original file. The both can interchange files for manipulation and storage as needed.

Get filters that fit the biggest lens size and use step up or step down rings to connect to the smaller lens. much cheaper than buying filters for each lens

Can anyone say, "content aware move"? This is just one of many new features that came along with cs6. I can not tell you enough about all the improvements. It would take several pages. They hit a home run with cs6. It uses a different engine altogether so changes happen much quicker and smoother. The filters are vastly improved. The cropping is much improved. And so on.

Anyone who says that cs5 is still better does not understand how things work in pp or they simply do not accept change easily. This is just my opinion.

Oh, and if you ever need to correct lens distortion issues, cs6 beats cs5 by a mile. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And so on.

I think I made my point. Lol.

Ditto, Double Ditto  CS 6 leaves CS5 in the dust

take a FX lens and place it on a FX camera , aim at a scene and look though the viewfinder and note how the scene looks now take the same lens and place it on a DX camera and compare. If you have say a D800 you can cycle through the crop factors and see how the angle of view changes and how the subject seems bigger

Thank you, Michael. I have a loupe for the LCD screen, but even with that, I often find a discrepancy when I download to the computer.

Remember you are looking at a jpeg on the lCD sceen of the camera and you can change the brightness of the viewing screen. Best help is the histogram

So, basically what you are saying here is that Nikon is better.

No He is not saying that, First I use Nikon. But Canon has different lens mounts depending on the Camera series, All Nikon lens fit all models of Nikon DX lens will fit on FX bodies and FX lens will fit on DX bodies All are compatible

I was able to get to your website. I'm particularly interested in your bird photos and your classes. I love your bird photos. One has to be willing to go out and sit and wait, and wait....I have been chasing Great Egrets and GBHs every year; never got a really good close-up. I'm beginning to recognize my better photos; therefore, I am more interested in shooting RAW and committing to learning LR and PS. I would love to come to "the other side of the pond" in the fall and go on a field trip with you!

I have PS, but I have been reluctant to spend much time learning it, as it seems so intimidating. FYI - You have an impressive bio and I tried to check out your website but it wasn't available.

That is interesting, I clicked on the link and it connected me. You can also use NIK in LR and LR is less intimidating than PS. Me personally I shoot in RAW, I find for me it gives me more options.
Possibly we could get together and do some shooting and I could show you PP in LR and PS

Thanks, mborn. Hmm. You really brought out details and now I'm thinking, the original is more appealing (if it ever was in the first place, but I liked it)..he/she is not quite so handsome with every detail showing. That is also true of our species...right? Thanks again.

Nat
You are welcome the advantage to working in PS and with NIK is you can adjust the picture to what you want. You can show more ore less details. just did a 3 minute adjustment to answer the original question.
BTW I am in SE Mass

All that is needed is some PP in PS with NIK Color Efex Pro 2 Detail extractor and tonal contrast

Please don't take this wrong, but why it this important to you? I'm curious to know. A lot of people seem to put a lot of effort into this. It would be good to know if you are going to go full-frame one day.

It would be a 1.5X, not a mm gain.

You will get a 1.5x "full-frame" equivalent with any lens on a DX camera body. It doesn't matter if it's a DX or FF lens.
The sensor is smaller on a DX camera, which is what gives you the "crop factor". The focal length of lenses are all measured the same way. The angle of coverage between a DX and a FF lens is different. A DX lens is made to cover the area of the smaller sensor. A full-frame lens covers a larger area. That's why they are bigger. The magnification of the image is the same with a 35mm DX, 35mm FF or even a 35mm medium format lens. You get the same picture with each on a DX body, image quality differences aside.

Interesting avatar photo btw.. What is it?

If you buy the Nikon 2x TC make sure you get Model III http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Products/Product/Camera-Lenses/2189/AF-S-Teleconverter-TC-20E-III.html

I took this photo with the TC on a 500 mm f/4 with the TC

DxO just rated the 5200 as better sharpness than the 7100 Might look at that camera rather than the 3200

Well the newest Canon like that is the SX50 I believe. Why not give it a look over or even the SX40 if the 50 is out of your price range. Or are you wanting to go more into the DSLR line? I'm a Nikon shooter so I can't really help you with Canon, but a little more info on whether or not you want to stay in the bridge camera line would be helpful for those who give you info on Canon.

Lillian Stokes, a great bird photographer has been taking a lot of photos recently with the SX50 and gives it great marks
