I can't recall ever using automatic on any camera. I grew up on 35mm SLR where everything was manual. Now I use either Av or shutter for 90% or more of my photos, and manual only where I figure conditions require it. Only time I use Program mode is to take "snapshots" indoors with the flash.

While much of the data being stored is not necessary, how much storage would be needed if we still used paper for most of it. We would have to cut down forests in mass just to make the paper. And I like the idea of information at my fingertips instead of having to go to the library and use the card catalog, only to find out the book I need is not available.

I've been shooting firearms for 60 years and cameras for about 50; I shoot with both eyes open all the time, right eye to the viewfinder or sights, left eye follows the target until the right eye gets on target and takes over. It just takes some practice. One of my cameras is a Nikon P900 , and I find the best way to follow a moving target at 800-1600 mm equiv. is hold the camera almost like a rifle, twist at the waist, and use the "Virtual horizon" setting to give me crosshairs like a rifle scope.

I have used an Epson 4990 flatbed scanner for years to scan negatives and slides; it does a fine job.

The fact that Nikon, up until the D850, uses Sony sensors is irrelevant, and represents a really bad sales technique.

is it really "sales technique" if he had virtually nothing in stock to sell? Bet the customer could order all that on Amazon without leaving his house.

Does anyone shoot with the Nikon P 900? If so, how do you like the camera and are you satisfied with the resulting photos? Any downsides to this camera/ Thanks

I have been using a P900 for about a year now, and consider it more of a niche camera. It's size, weight, and cost mean I can carry a smaller, lighter, affordable camera with a great telephoto lens in places where I would never carry a larger DSLR with a long, heavy, telephoto lens [imagine backpacking, a tour bus, in a crowd indoors, or perhaps in a small airplane]. On the negative side, the camera leaves a lot to be desired: no RAW, no hot shoe, a "continuous shooting mode" that leaves you waiting with a useless camera for about 7 seconds, a poor manual focus mode, and decent but not great IQ. I have Canon 6D and 70D cameras in addition to the P900, and I consider either Canon camera to be more user friendly and useable, as long as I don't need that awesome 2000mm [equiv.] lens.

For years, dating back to my use of film, I've had a small cooler with "blue ice" in my car; camera can stay for hours there and not get very warm

but if you take it out and use it, do you have any problems with condensation?

My dad loves messing with telemarketers. He'll string them along for as long as possible before telling them to get lost. He turns it into a game for his own amusement.

I love to keep them on line, too. I'm retired so I have plenty of free time. Once kept a caller on for 7 1/2 minutes.

It would be a pain in the ass to win that much. I would have to figure out responsible things to do with the money, probably set up a foundation to make grants for good causes. There's the worry about how to invest it so it wouldn't disappear. It would be a lot of work.
And if you have kids, you'd have to worry about some whacko kidnapping them for ransom.

Why I never buy lottery tickets.

your "People" will set up the foundation and take care of the investments. I would love to win if for no other reason than I would then be traveling by private jet rather than standing in line at the airport with all the "peons."

took me about 3 1/2 hours to drive to Land Between the Lakes west of Hopkinsville, Ky. Took about 9 hours to get back to Louisville via the Western Ky. Parkway, and it was worth every minute I spent sitting on the highway. Everyone should see a total eclipse at least once in their life. Can't wait for the 2024 eclipse; the drive won't be nearly as far.
