Thanks! I had just got the camera, except for some test shots around the house, this was my first field excursion.
I confess I used the camera programmed setting. The first one was probably set to auto but came in at f/8, 1/500, iso 100. The rest were on the action preset "running man" and came in at f/5.6, 1/2000, iso 200.
I don't use those settings anymore now that I'm learning how to use P, TV, and AV. I'll be posting some of my most recent images later today or tomorrow.
I'm new to UHH, joined yesterday, now I am going to try to post some images for C&C. These were taken at Joe Overstreet Landing, East Lake Kississimee, Fl. I used my Canon Rebel T3 with the kit Canon 75-300mm. I shot them in JPEG Fine a couple months ago. I shoot everything in raw now (I'm learning). I cropped these and resized to 8x10. Please critique. As I said in my introduction yesterday I have thick skin, so please...let me have it!
I have 10 images to post, so I'll do the first 3 and then add attachments. Hope it works.
I've had this lens for a couple of months and love it. I use it on a simple Canon T3. I'm a newbie on UHH and just learning photography. Like you, I checked all the reviews I could find and was apprehensive about buying it. The two main complaints are slow to focus and heavy. Neither is a problem for me. The lens is a little heavy but I'm strong enough to hold it. On a distant moving object it does take a few seconds to lock in focus sometimes but that is it. It holds focus good once achieved. With a little practice this becomes less of a problem. I have no regrets and recommend you get it.
Thanks for your help. I'll give that a try.
I'll be posting more images tomorrow. I have pleanty but don't want to over do it.
Thanks to all for the warm welcome!
Thanks. It does look better the way you did it. I'm having some trouble with cropping....either too much or too little.
I'll check out Topaz-labs adjust.
This is original (which is better as far as cropping?)
This is cropped and lightened up some.
Thanks! I'm glad I finally got up enough nerve to post some of my images.
Thanks Sinatraman. I am in a great area so I have pleanty of opportunity.
I was wrong about the lens on my Nikon D100, it's a Quantaray Tech-10 AF 70-300 MM 1:4 - 5.6 D LDO Macro. I still have it and it works just fine on Macro.
I look forward to any advice you will share with me in the future. I'll post more examples of my recent images and again welcome C&C.
Thanks TK.....you're right about the first one. I took that before UHH and I learned about leveling it. I've since learned how to do that in Elements 9. I'll fix it.
I'm recently retired and in excellent health. I decided on outdoor (wildlife) photgraphy as a hobby to stay active. I'm very much an amature. I've been on UHH just about everyday for the last couple months and have learned a lot from your forum. I started with a Nikon D100 last year but had trouble with the old Sigma telephoto lens focusing. Maybe 5 - 10% good images. Recently got the Rebel T3 kit. I was not happy with the Canon kit 75-300 MM so I got the Sigma 150-500 MM and love it. I have so much to learn and will appreciate C&C. I have thick skin so I can take it. I'll post a couple from the D100 and then some recent images from the Rebel.

Is this better?
