We just returned from a week's photo drive in The national parks of Southern Utah. Although we have decent cameras (Panasonic FZ150 and Canon G-15), many of our landscape photos were spoiled by haze. The haze was invisible to the naked eye! Nor did time of day seem to matter...

Questions: How do others cope with haze? Filters? (There is no provision for a filter on our G-15). Can RAW photography be dealt with for haze in post processing? How? Lastly, can one predict in advance whether haze will be present? What in the weather forecast would give a photographer something to go on?

Great pix! I'm guessing that after you set up your camera and tripod, you held the shutter part way down, waited for the bird to come into view, then clicked? Or did you set your shutter on continuous to avoid clicking a milli second after the bird came into view? Thanks.

I used a remote release, watch the hummer coming in and shot with continuous

can't use a tripod at least with the hummingbirds shots because they sometimes hover away from the feeder, then move toward it, etc, so am needing to move the camera position.
You know, this UHH forum is really the neatest thing. I appreciate everyone's helpfulness so much, and the variety of pictures sent in is unbelievable.
judy

You can use a tripod, with your feeder just focus on the area of the tip and catch the hummingbirds coming and going use you flash

Hi Buck, the thing is this in my eyes, Lightroom is the best in organizing photos and the things you can't do in LR you can do in PSE11. You have more than enough capabilities to manipulate photos in PSE11.

What I do is the same as I do for Night Sky Photography. Autofocus the lens @ f/4 at an object 20-30 ft away. turn lens and camera to manual focus and using gaffer tape the focusing rim in place now everything from around 3 feet to infinity is in focus
