Beautiful photos. I wish I could have bird feeders where I live, but the apartment complex doesn't allow them. Besides, my apartment is rather high and I'm not sure if I would have very many birds up here anyways. I enjoy looking at all of the birds posted on UHH.
Thanks for the nice comment Tikva. Yes, there are lots of very good pics of birds posted on this site. I also enjoy viewing all of them.

Day # 16 - Date : Monday, October 30, 2017
The Hairy are the second of the Woodpeckers that I am posting that are visitors to my feeding stations. They are the mid-size ones, bout halfway between a Downy and a Pileated. Like the other two I have two distinct families of this species come in regularly to feed. This type appeared to be a bit better producer this year than the Downy, although not as good as the pileated. This year they showed up with 2 fledglings, a male and a female. I think that each family had one offspring, but not real sure. Possibly one family had a pair. But since the 2 fledglings were never here being fed at the same time I tend to think it was one apiece. I use two suet feeding stations and on more that one occasion I had one family feeding on each one at the same time. Makes for one crowded back yard at times.

Very nice series Ron. Your shots with the Tamron are very close in quality to the Canon lens. Were these hand held or tripod?
Thanks for the kind comments Robert. All my shots here with the Tamron were on a tripod. Those with the Canon were handheld. At my age I find the Tamron a mite heavy to handhold. Also I agree the Tamron is close to the Canon, but I still think I can consistently get sharper ones with the 300 prime. But you don't have the reach.

Favorites #1 and #3. #3 would be, for me, fantastic with angle, clarity etc. without the birdhouse.
Thanks Jeff for looking and commenting, tis appreciated. Sorry about the piece of my feeding station in #3. Where it is makes it impossible to crop out and the editing program I use does not have any tool available to remove it.
