The attached infrared photos were taken at Notre Dame and in our backyard.

I bought a Converted Canon 20D from Pro Photo in DC. To improve contrast it has a red filter over the sensor. Thus, you can't use raw as everything comes out red.

But over all it's great fun and easy to use, plus I get to use all my Canon glass.

These are great shots! The second photo of your Lab is really remarkable. He or she is a real sweetie.

Is the lens a "II" or is it still the same as the one I took to Greece?

Fran,

You're welcome. In fairness, I haven't seen the full-frame version for sale for some time. The APS version was upgraded to very similar but smaller and lighter version II. I don't know if the full-frame ever was. I have the APS version on a Canon 7D. I note that it also focuses a bit faster. You might check the Tamron website to see if there is a version II for the full-frame.

Nonetheless, if you can live with the relatively smaller aperture, you should be happy with it. Tamron does have a very nice 24-70 lens, but I bought the Canon f4 24-105L before it came out. If I want something longer I use the Canon f4 100-400L. You can probably find both on eBay at pretty good prices if you're patient.

Finally, the photos from Greece were taken with a good quality polarizing filter and, of course, the light in that part of the world is amazingly good. Virtually every photo I took in daylight on that trip was taken with the Tamron.

All best,

Ken

Three more from Sanibel.

We were in Sanibel in August. It was quiet and rained hard about 4:00 each afternoon. There are lots of boat trips you can take to photo birds etc. Be sure to sign up early. But you will go to places that are not populated.

The photos attached were taken with a Sony 5n with an E 55-210 lens.

Please forgive my spelling and mislabeling, but the Tamron photos are the real deal. I have several L lenses as well and, in decent light, the Tamron is the real deal.

We have both the 5d mark III and the 7d. I use the older full frame tamron 18-270 zoom and my wife the APS version. If you try it you will like it.

Although I must say that it's hard to beat the 24-105 canon L lens for every day use.

If you like I can send some photos taken in Papua New Guinea taken with the tamron.
