My wife and I will be in Sanibel, FL in Feb. any suggestions on photo opp's? I am comfortable with what lenses to bring with the exception of 150-500 or 150-600. Is there enough wild life and are there areas that are not over run with tourists that would allow for the effective use of the Sigma or new Tamron. Thank you to those of you with first hand experience of Sanibel who were kind enough to reply.

Are you going to be there before or after spring training starts?

Thank you, is this an environment that would benefit from a 150-500 or would a 28-300 be enough. Have both FF and Crop sensor body

You are going to be there at the height of the tourist season, so you'll have to work around the crowds. Do bring the longest zoom you have. You'll also be a short drive to Corkscrew Sanctuary which shouldn't be as crowded as it's not on the beach.

You will be able to use everything from a macro to the longest telephoto in this area. The choice of subjects is endless. But ....., remember, on the island your camera will constantly be exposed to salt air. Personally, I use a cheap, sealed flexible plastic housing when anywhere near the beach for and extended period of time. A good lens/sensor cleaning kit is a must too. With a few precautions, you'll have a great time here.

If you can get to Captiva Island for a while it may not be as crowded and last time I was there was not as touristy. Boy it it insanely crowded here now and usually worse there, but it is a beautiful area. Have a great time and can't wait to see your shots!

Somehow I missed that it was you posting. I assume Sox spring training is part of the trip?

LOL, purely R&R at the brides request. First Spring Training game is 2/27 and we leave the 25th. I'll wait for Fenway

And, by "purely R&R", you mean "I'm going to do some wildlife photography." :-)

I was in Tampa last March, and got a single seat in the 4th row behind home plate at a Yankees game. I'll never get this close at Fenway or Yankee Stadium. Unless it's snowing...

A helpful resource is Robert Hitchman's Photograph America newsletter for Sanibel and Captiva Island. His newsletters give good information and are relatively inexpensive. You can download them for use on a smartphone or tablet, or order a printed copy for about $8.00.
