Indeed.

Selfie, Facebook status, exposing private life seems to be more important then enjoying the moment.
That's evolution I guess.

Strong subject in this picture and very real.

PS: I picked up this picture from newspaper. Not a picture of mine.

very good indeed.

I especially like the ones with the orange flower. It adds that extra touch to complete the picture.

Wish i could have a go at some hummies. Not sure if they exist in Norway.

i forgot to mentioned, the sample i attached, is taken with 400mm lens from a distance of, I believe 1,5KM. And cropped. That's how I got it bigger. Guess a longer lens would offer the little extra I've added.
Not sure myself, and to be honest this my thought on it. not an expert on this subject. Just trying and failing. :D

You can actually achieve a bigger moon with the skyline, but the key is zoom. You must be far away with a long lens to be able to produce a picture with fairly good size of the moon. You will still face the problem with exposure in this situation, which in most cases forces blending two pictures together

This is a test i did last year. From the cabin i had clear view to the mountain slopes. The size was good, but I admit, i gave it even just a little more.

This is not a picture for my best work. This is a picture from my lesson-projects, and I pickup this copy from my Facebook.

That's why I love this site.
Learning something new all the time.

I banged my head a lot to find a good theme for this bloody moon. But not much imagination when the subject was just a circle with reddish color.

I love you took the time to show the moon phase from the first start of the eclipse until the full cover.

like it :) well done.

I feel with you John.

Besides the the fact you're a Canon dude, and I am a Nikon dude, we faced the similar problems.
I tried several shots, where i varied from ISO 1000-6400,
and tested also some different aperture stops, but could just not find a good crisp setting.

Used both my 120-400 5,6 Sigma, and my Nikkor 55-200 std kit lens for better picture of the moon. I took them from my balcony. Somehow the results from last night were not as good as previous attempts, when the moon has it's normal light. With this red color I found it more challenging to get it sharp. My thought on this is the lack of light on the moon will make it very hard to make good clear pictures. 6D is full frame camera isn't it? Must say , I was sure the FX users will have much better detail, but cant see much difference from my DX to your FX. So the only thing left , has to be better optics for this type of moon.

Have not been able to PP my pictures yet, but will do when I arrive back home.

It was bad enough to wake up so early , just to jump to work two hours later. If I had a day off , I would drove somewhere high enough to get some City skyline with the moon. Have some shots with my Tokina 11-16mm 2,8 and the Sigma 17-50mm 2.8. Of course the moon is to be seen, but you can imagine the size of it. Guess we'll do better next time.

PS: The point was : I think I expected more from this session, but I have a feeling we have to be happy with the results after seeing several examples. It was harder then expected.

In Norway they charge us about 100€ for a swab sensor cleaning.

Why would they charge you in Euros in Norway?

Sorry , I was just trying to give a better reference than the 800-900 NOK.

If I would ask a total stranger to take my wedding photos for a wedding, I would be concerned.

If I would ask a pro-photographer I would have high expectation.

If I ask a friend to do it, is because i have some confidence in the person. Even knowing him/her not being a pro. There is a reason for why I would ask an amateur photographer friend. Here is a trust that something good will come out, and that may be enough for me.

Everything is based on trust and honesty and a little preparation. Which is a lot better then a so called pro messing up the wedding photos. This I have witness.

My friend contacted a photography business for hiring a wedding photographer. Of course all references showed this company was doing it professionally. And let me tell you it was a disaster. My friend's luck was having amateur friends photographers, (doing photography for hobby) who have taken pictures at the wedding and they were very happy. Of course the pro-photographer got sued.

When my friend's brother got married a couple of years later, they put their trust in the friends, and I was included as well. And they were totally happy about the result. At that time, i just got into this hobby.

So those pro-photographers should just bug off on the subject when it's between friends. Cause there are lots of factors why they ask a friend.

But I do agree with all the comments that there are too many out there who are pro's over night destroying events. Like my friends experienced.
