Amazing, almost everyone using their camera phones. So the lady in the black top with a nice smile kind of takes center stage in the photo.

Indeed.

Selfie, Facebook status, exposing private life seems to be more important then enjoying the moment.
That's evolution I guess.

Imagine how it had looked if the old lady was equipped with a D4 around her neck in that crowd. :) :) :)

Most people take photos of their friends, themselves, their children, the places they go, the activities they are involved in. They take the pictures in order to share with their friends and keep for themselves. An instrument that can take the picture and then send it to the friend with a comment about it is a good thing. I doubt they are are concerned getting the light right or anything else. They have it on auto and that is good enough.

There's nothing wrong with that. Would you feel differently if they all had 'real' cameras?

The simple answer is yes and there is no known cure for them. These poor folks are hopeless.

Most people take photos of their friends, themselv... (show quote)

It was a joke nothing else about the real camera comment.

We have to use a very "wide angle" to understand that mobile smartphones are taking over the social life. Of course it's a wonderful technology we have at our hands to be able to share what we feel , when, how, who, but I believe a majority of those using it, are using it wrong. While people are more and more concerned about mass surveillance, they do willingly expose themselves. Which i believe most people in that crowed were looking for a quick post on Facebook or twiter "Jooohooo , I am here". How about enjoying that moment, let it sink in and appreciate the fact you are there. While the main subject walks by, the fingers are just going like mad to write on the phone. The only memory they have is the snap they took.

Me for one, I'm pretty amazed how people exposed themselves to point where their content is been used, and then we have full front page on the biggest newspaper with the title "My facebook is abused" , "My neighbour had access to my private stash OMG", "This tweet ravishes the internet" " I did not get the job because of my Facebook" . Let's face it, most people have Kardashians syndrome. Our social media makes us blind. We care about the gossip around us, and express our frustration so everybody can see it.

I posted this picture exactly to see what people see in it.
