That's an FD lens. It's for a film camera. Want to buy a nice Canon F1?

How do I get out of this forum. It's getting old for me. From now on I only comment on photography subjects.

Has anyone else come across any good training information on the web re: the Canon 7d Mark II ?

Is there anything on the processing software???

It's an L lens. 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM. Are you interested?

Maybe some time in the future. money is an issue. but my first interest is in the 100 macro L series.. I have a feeling that that lens will get the most action with me. I've been into photography since 1973 but just recently have made the jump to digital. I have a lot of relearning to do. I bought a 7D mii and need to give it a workout.

Foathog,

The L version is $950 and is also IS. For that much money it should take the pictures, too.

That's what makes this one such a great buy.

I noticed that your 100-400 is an L lens. is that not a good one?? I like shooting macro and portraits. the 100 macro L series does BOTH and very nicely. If I'm going to invest in good glass it would be for this lens. I may even teach it to take the shots itself. LOL

Foathog, welcome to the Hog!
Yes, indeed, long gone are the days of your F1, and that's what makes this such an exciting time.
I know you were kidding about the manual focus. I don't have my 7ll yet, but I'm sure I will be spending my share of time on manual focus when I do have it!
What's so exciting, is that once you get that focus system figured out, you will be doing things with the 7ll that just 2 weeks ago could ONLY be done focus-wise, with a $7000 camera!!
Problem is, you don't say what you will be focusing on?!
Just as an example, if it's birds, there was a post just a day or two ago that provided a link to a bird photographer where he lists the settings that HE sets the 7ll for bird pics.
I suggest you just start with the default settings and see what you get. In the meantime you can be reading the manual and fine-tuning what works for you. Good luck ;-)

I do mostly nature, landscape, macro, and people. I seems that most of those focusing formats were made for sports. but you're right. I'll play with it and see what happens. I hope the processing software is fairly easy to understand. I guess I missed the post of the bird photographer. I just got the camera this past Saturday. from now on I'll be checking in here more often to grab some tips.

You do not need to adjust for any lens unless you are not getting proper focus.

the manual made it sound like I should do it now. I'll take your advice. thanks.
