This bird is somewhat elusive and vanishes as soon as the camera comes out or the shutter clicks. With luck, I'll get one shot before waiting a fair amount of time for another appearance. These shots were about 10 feet away. Usually the bird poses in the top of an oak that's almost too far away for any reasonably good shot. I keep trying and am just glad it showed up for these.

Feel free to offer suggestions.

The bird shots are great, but me thinks you are on the wrong side of the camera! :)

That's a great shot of a great bird. I am curious however - what are the blues in the water reflections of? Not the bird, because the reflections are behind it. Sky maybe?

Jerry,
Have you bought perfume or cologne for your significant other recently? This liquid essence is not cheap by a long shot.

The Romans used to collect male sweat and swore it had pheromones that were sensually stimulating to women. Studies have shown that the attraction from scent is actually a combination of the pheromones you exude in combination with the cologne's fragrance. This holds true for both men and women, but fragrances do alter from one individual to another due to body chemistry, interaction with other chemical compound used as deodorants, hair products, amount of exercise and certain combination may work for some but not for others. Guess it's a trial and error thing. Go figure....I've used POLO for years and it's worked for me. There are also perfumaries in Paris that will custom design a perfume or cologne specifically for you but they can get even pricier.

So, what custom scent will enhance the combination of Right Guard, Rogaine, Irish Spring, Gold's foot powder, Preparation H and malt scotch??? What goes with Budweiser and dog doo or cow manure?
Any and all suggestions will be considered. LOL

Many years ago (maybe 60?), after a haircut my barber used to apply something he called "panther piss". It always worked for me........ :-)

I hope I don't offend you. I piddled just a bit, see what you think.

I think the wood colors in the first photo appeared to me more natural and the "piddled" photo seems to be too magenta or purplish. Just my humble opinion..............

The guns control nuts are all i***ts! None of my guns have hurt anyone. Ask the guys suggesting these regulations if their bodyguards are armed or if they will fire "warning shots" if they are threatened.

It's not about the guns, it's about controlling us.

Thanks fellows for the help! That was much easier than I thought it would be. I looked a long time to find that option and finally gave up. To say that Lightroom has many features would be a major understatement!

After transferring my photos to the computer I immediately, before any editing, copy that folder to an external backup, at least I try to, then monthly I copy the new backed up photos to a second external back up, Bob.

Every time I put a SD card into my reader with the intent to download to my computer, Lightroom opens. How can I prevent it from opening until I want to use it?

Thanks.

Are you sure you are describing the correct lens? I have the lens in your photo and the numbers don't match. Also, I 'm using mine with the D5000 and the auto Focus does work very well. My lens is around 6 inches long and 3 inches in Diameter, and takes a 67 mm filter.

Just checking......

I'm just curious. I bought my first cameras in Vietnam because you could get them cheap at the PXs there. I learned to use the darkroom at Special Services in Qui Nhon. I got hooked and have been ever since.

It appears that a lot of us are of a certain (ahem) age, and from some of the comments I've seen on various threads, I have a feeling that quite a few of us started out in Vietnam. Personally, photography and my USAA membership are the two best things I got from military service :) :)

I got my start in photography in the Army also. I flew Hueys out of Saigon for about 10 months, and one of my buddies bought a nice camera at the PX in Japan while on R & R there. When I saw the photos he was getting, I had to have one also.
I bought a Topcon RE Super for $400.00 in 1967 dollars! It was the Navy's issue camera to their photogs and pilots. I ended up with extra Topcon lenses, a 135 tele, a 35 mm wide angle, lots of filters, extension tubes, and a darkroom setup for B & W. I was able to set up the darkroom in my tiny bathroom where I lived ( I know I was one of the lucky ones who actually lived in a villa). I haven't used this camera for a long time and would like to sell it, but I doubt anyone would want a 35 mm film camera these days, given the advances in digital. I know I learned a lot with this one. Must have taken a thousand slides while flying around Vietnam, not even counting the B & W photos I did.
