Luminar says they are working on an asset cataloging feature for L2018, but it's not there yet. I love many of the features of L2018 but as some other posters have noted, it is pretty slow when tweaking the filters, and the "Export" function ("Save As") is pretty limited. Basically, you export to the Desktop and then place the file in the folder you want to store it in. Also, some of the newer features (dodge and burn) are not at all specific, and essentially have a "lighter" and "darker" setting, without the opacity settings available in PS for fine-tuning the d&b function. But, at $59 and liberation from the Adobe Gulag, it is well worth giving it a go.

p.14 Beautiful, JoeV. I respect the "right" of others to disagree, but His creations are so intricate no human could duplicate. His sense of humor is marvelous and His creativity unparalleled - just look at people: no two the same. Snowflakes: no two the same etc. Maybe we should make you the official unofficial UHH chaplain.

Iggy, after I shoot, say I shoot 500 shots, I'll go through them pretty quicly and usually wind up with maybe 50 that I think are somewhat decent then erase the rest. I KNOW I'll never use any others.
Now mind you these are NOT family keepsakes or an event where some of the people shots I might want even if they're not very good.
Of the 50 mentioned I might wind up working on 5 or 6 in Lightroom and will eventually erase the other 40 as well. From experience, I'll never revisit them again. So I wind up with maybe 10 from that shoot. That's my method.

That is precisely what I do - on the first go-round, if the image doesn't strike me emotionally, compositionally, lighting, focus, etc. as a potential "keeper" it is ditched. That gets rid of at least 80% of the images. I then revisit the remaining images in a day or so, and cull out the ones that passed first inspection but now seem flawed. That leaves 5-10% of the images actually saved. Then I will take the "best" ones for PP work. On a 500-image session, I will end up keeping maybe 5-10 shots and will can the rest. I can't count the number of times I went back to an image and wondered, "Why in the world did I keep that??" :-)

That's what you get when you pay baggage handlers minimum wage, and supervisors only slightly more.

Most baggage handlers, ramp personnel, commissary workers, etc. are union members, and typically make WAY more than minimum wage. And still they handle baggage like 500 lb. gorillas working out. Nothing ever stolen, but damaged...? Yes, indeed.

LOL! I had that same problem with a contrary buffalo. However, after intense negotiations, we settled out of court for a bucket of apples and a liability release! ;-)

Too many moving parts - and I would NEVER allow a stranger into my home, or provide my home address under such circumstances. Think about it - if you have a collection of photos worthy of being considered for purchase, odds are pretty high that you have at least a few thousand dollars worth of cameras, lenses, computer for PP, etc. Makes you a target for a burglary...or worse. World is crazy today, and this is clearly a scam to separate you from your work or worse... Thanks for the heads-up!

After processing, I use Luminar and the "Export" function first. I save the processed work to the desktop under an identifiable, but different name. Then, I can "Save" the original .nef or .jpg file as named with a .lmnr extension. I NEVER override or destructively edit the original .nef file. I copy the original .nef file, process it in Luminar, then store the processed image with the original .nef file. This may be overkill, but I have lost more than one original file hitting "Save" and I'd rather be "save" than sorry! Ouch, really bad pun...!

If you recently did an update of your Adobe apps, then all you have to do is go to the folder where the old Photoshop was and copy the PSP folder to the new plugin folder in the new version of Photoshop just installed. Click on download to see what I mean.

THANK YOU!! I had the same issue and was really ticked off that Adobe updated PS and Canon didn't have an updated driver. Do these guys talk to each other? Thanks so much for providing this solution - worked perfectly and now PSP is up and running in PS 2018. Huzzah!

At what point does the technology exceed our ability to perceive a difference?

Technology can only increase to the physical limitations of our ability to perceive. That's why dog whistles are so amazing, and ultraviolet and infrared light are magical.

I have recently supplemented my PS efforts with Luminar by Macphun. The removal of certain objects, adding a sky, changing backgrounds, adding effects, etc. are all fairly simple to do with the brush tool and other resources they provide. The interface is quite intuitive, easy to navigate, and offers a large number of non-destructive filters. Also, for the non-purists among us, Luminar has a number of decent presets to use as starting points for PP work. They are not the be-all and end-all settings, but are really helpful to show the adjustments each preset has made to the original image, what filters and levels the preset contains, and full control to change any and all of the preset settings. For me, adding a preset and seeing each filter used and the level at which each is set gives me some cool ideas about filter use that I may not have considered before. I am a passionate amateur, and have no problem using whatever method, whether in camera or in PP, to obtain the images I see in my mind. And believe me, my mind is a scary place to be! :-)

How about reading your Canon T6 User's Manual and methodically going through all functions and taking pics as you go to see the effect instead of the hair-brained question and pics you posted. All that you've revealed is that you're too freakin' lazy to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.

This is an 83 year old woman trying to do something with which she is unfamiliar. She reached out respectfully to see if folks who know a bit more about photography could help her. And many graciously did. But then this is the arrogant, self-righteous response she received from you. Maybe she could have done more homework, but so what? Is that any reason to treat her so shamefully? Jerk. PS - the correct phrase is "hare brained", like the rabbit. But of course, you knew that.
