I have a T2i (very similar to the T3) and I also have a 50d (same as 60d -video). That being said the 50d is a better feel in my hand, easier to use (after learning) and all around a tad better. A few less meg pix but...... As for video. I thought I was going to love it and use it often. I found that I don't. I don't at all. So not having video on the 50d is not a big deal at all. I find the dslr hard to hold for video and just not a natural feel in my hands while shooting. If I do shoot video I do it from a tripod. Keep in mind a high end class 6-10 sd card is required in order to process the amount of data. There are some great deals on 50d's out there now that the 60d has come out. That might leave more $$ for a good L series lens. I have learned that the diff in many cameras is min, but the lens makes all the diff in the good shot.
I started with a Canon T2i. I picked up David Bauches guide to getting to know..... I liked the way the manual was laid out. Easy read and easy learn (and I have a.d.d.). I would read a little and do a little. A year later, I am still learning, and still reading. I have since picked up a Canon 50d and i did the same thing. I don't force it. I read a tad and then apply. Still learning and will for some time. Good luck. Amazon has the book with free shipping.
I also have the Tamron 18-270 lens and I am very happy with it. I shoot from a canoe and like you didn't want to have to change lenses. I now use this lens almost always. I use a Canon T2i and also a 50d. I also picked up a 2x converter and can double the 270 (must use tripod, and yes loose a few stops). I sold both the stock and 55-250 that came with the Canon. The new 18-270 is very similar to last years model but is more compact.. I too did have the problem of the barrel sliding out on me when I wore it around my neck. I now use mono pod and carry it diff.
thank you. I would sure like to find one program that does it all. My computer skills might not be able to handle juggling two diff programs just to have some fun with pictures.
Looking to get a computer program (photoshop)..... Don't have a ton to spend and don't plan to land the space shuttle with it. Woudl like to mess with HDR and photo touch up type stuff. Wanting to keep the price down the best I can. Lightroom 3 was recommended to me, but doesn't have HDR that I can find. Any suggestions would be kind. thanks Steve
Taken near the house on a favorite lake at sunrise.
thank you all for the reply. The learning process is just as fun as the shoots.
I read often the term "faster lens". What does this mean? I am researching and learning more and more about diff lenses. The cause and effects if you will. I see some post ie, they had a 30-70 and now have a 28-90 and like it so much better. Is there really a diff to be noticed and if so, what. I use a Tamron 18-270 and it covers all ranges. It keeps me from having to change lenses while in my canoe. But some tell me I should get a 70-200. Seems I have 70-200 covered by using a 18-270. Any light on this would be helpful. thanks
I use a 10-24 with a Canon T2i and have no problems.
