“Greetings” arrived in my mailbox in September 1961. I was 23 and thought I would escape the draft -Ha! Went to the Navy recruiter and not long afterward was working as a Spook for NSA. Retired 20 years later from a Most interesting period of my life!
Some of the best days of my life were...especially of the cattle.
Exactly my thoughts about the original post except I was in the hill country area in central Texas. Bought that ranch in the 60's after getting out of the Navy and kept it up until just a few years ago. Was a great place to adjust to a peaceful civilian life after the turmoil of the Cold War cat and mouse games.
Does anyone else dislike the sometimes large (1/3 to 1/2 way across the image) white signature on a photo? That large amount of white captures my eye when first opening a photo taking away from the possible pleasure of seeing the image first. Of course having that writing should prevent its unauthorized use.
The part where I'm recovering from a grueling three year long episode with my younger cousin with whom I became sole caretaker. Almost helplessly watched him wither away because of Alzheimers until one morning his hospice person saw me standing in the doorway to his room and asked him if he knew me. He slowly turned my way and with a broad smile said, "sometimes" then went blank again.
He didn't wake up the next morning.
Never thought at the time but legal Euphanasia might be something to consider in this type situation.
Same here, attached a wooden box to the foot and then a "U" shaped fixture at the height of the folded tripod top up on the handle of the frame, then used a bungee chord to secure it and the umbrella with stand. The box early carries all the extra equipment. A neighbor donated a foldable dove hunting stool with insulated bag hanging under the cloth seat (bungeed this onto the carrier) that holds my lunch . The air in the tires is reduced to match the load and the box and upper fixture are lined with an inch thick layer of soft foam material.
Appreciate the info, got caught in a time warp a couple years ago when selling and needing the money to pay for the replacement item. Money back to my bank took quite a long time and had to be in $500 increments. The seller finally opened an account so I could pay through PP.
I have not used one but think not being easily height adjustable would be a handicap. Would be a very nice dual use item, looking forward to other posts on this thread. (Looked at a photo on a retailer's website and see they actually pull apart to store; however, the top section does telescope a little.)
