Up close and interesting, shot a long time ago, but lost the negative, so I had to scan the only print I have.
Ruth Bernhardt told me once "if you can't make it bigger or or more important, don't push the button" Ansel Adams said "if it's not in your head when you take the image, you'll never get it on paper".
Is that really the case today?
WOW! Today is the good old days. Back in the bad old days we couldn't talk about tweeting the pixcels around the edgeslong to leave the print in the bath , or stacking things. Ancel said "it's either already in your head it probably won't get there", Ruth Bernhardt told me "if you can't make it bigger or more important , don't press the button". The only way to play with contrast was to manipulate exposure and development time, or how long to leave the print in the tray.
Don't we live in a great world today? Maybe yes, maybe no!
I know this might not help many people, but years ago I wanted to take images of people on the street but found out I was too shy. So I took my 4 by 5 camera on a old wood tripod and a black vueing hood and set it up on a sidewalk in the zoo. As people walked bye I asked them if I could "capture their image" nearly all of them said sure! I not only got their images but got to talk to them, and got some new friends. Now that was fun.
