So i read somewhere that most of all you're supposed to have fun taking pictures, well i thought it may be true, so i went out to see if i could have some fun taking pictures with my cameras, i took a nikon D5300 and a sony A6000, why both you ask, good question, because i needed to see which one would produce the effect faster and easier, the fun effect.
So i decided to go somewhere interesting and fun and not to far away where i could chose either people or scenery, so i went to Hollywood Blvd and then Santa Monica Pier, so there i am cameras strapped to my shoulder checking what to photograph,my first photo was of the beach, that didn't produce an ounce of fun, then i took a photo of the Ferris wheel, no fun, then i saw a lady in a bikini laying in the sand and i was thinking of taking a picture but then the boy friend who was with her saw my intentions so i decided not to take the picture, an hour had gone by and about 40 pictures of everything, including the seagulls, no fun yet, then i saw a singer, a lady singer dressed in black and with a black hat and playing the guitar, i stood there listening to the song and i liked it, then i decided to take some photos to see if that would trigger the fun, after taking 4 from her right side and 3 from the front and 4 from the left side, she suddenly stopped singing and she had not finished the song, she just stared at me in a most disapproving way and even with the dark glasses she was wearing i could feel the look of anger in her eyes,i didn't know what to do, so i said, "I'm sorry" and turned around and started walking, glanced back one more time and she still had her eyes on me,that's when i realized, i was having fun, i was finally having fun, and it felt goood.
So i kept on taking pictures of people, some were more fun than others, their reactions was what i liked and produced the fun effect, some people were surprised some kind of angry and some got happy, no matter the situation, i got the fun i was searching for, and it had to do with people, but i got to confess, i have the most fun when they get angry.
So which camera did work better for me in this situation, it was the Sony A6000, because it's smaller, faster focusing, and i can take 11 shots a second, so next fun journey I'll just take the Sony.

Unless angering others and putting your own safety at risk is part of the fun, I would suggest putting aside the Sony A6000 and getting a long zoom bridge camera for this type of photography. Here is a shot I took last spring on a beach from almost 100 yards away while on a cruise with a Canon SX50 bridge camera. The subject and her husband were none the wiser, and I returned to the ship with all of my teeth intact.

The fun starts when the person reacts when they find out i'm taking the picture, anger, happiness, suprised that's what i'm looking for, to take the picture of the reaction, so a zoom lens will not work because they would not know they are being photographed.

Maybe he is just a risk taker who feels that at 63 years of age, he is too old to take up sky diving, downhill skiing, or motorcycle racing. As such, he is using this type of photography to fill that inner need.

I agree. I like taking photos of people and their reactions. It's not weird nor is it sick. Our society has become one of complete intolerance of anything. No matter what you do, it's hurtful.

Hellooooo...it's just photography not murder! :)

I up the fun factor by setting the camera on a narrow aperture and focusing to 3m and just clicking away...not even focusing. I'm going out today with my new-to-me Olympus Trip 35 that has NO manual functions and zone focus' so the fun factor should be through the roof!

I've already caused enough hate and discontent in my life , I avoid causing more if I can, Bob.

"...and i can take 11 shots a second... Sounds like the spray and pray approach to photography, in addition to being generally annoying while trying to have fun.

I see nothing wrong with photographing people as long as they're in a public place. If there's a woman in a bikini on the beach, she is wearing a bikini beause she thinks it makes her look good, so she should be flattered if you want to take a photo of her. (Her husband/boyfriend may not look at it that way however).

Perhaps the people look at you critically because they think you might be one of the Overwatchers. However if they call you on that you can say that if you had been an Overwatcher, they would never see your camera. And you'll never know how many photos of you taking pictures that the Overwatchers got.

First of all, you don't know how to even start to have fun.
It can't be with the cameras you own.
You have to use a Canon with a white lens. Then everyone knows you're a pro because they see those cameras and lenses at places like the Super Bowl and golf matches.
Next you head straight to where there are lots of parents with young kids and photograph the kids. THATS when it gets really FUN!!!
Everything else you're doing up to that is just fun practice but it's not really fun.
It will be even more fun if you wear a T shirt that says, " I like little boys" on the front and across the back, emblazoned in big letters says, N.A.M.B.L.A.
That will do it...., Good luck having fun!!!!
