Here is another grain of sand to add to the beach of gun control and mental illness. If ignorance of the law is no excuse for breaking it, then why after people get caught so much enphasis is placed upon their mental capabilities, so as to understand what they did? Why is insanity a defense, when ignorance isn't?

Can someone set me thinking differently. I have no problems with what people do behind closed doors. Its their business, but this crap of gay marriage is nothing but a red herring. Marriage is between two people for the only purpose of procreation, and assurance of (at least at one time) that their prodigy was theirs and only theirs. The monitary aspect of marriage was for the purpose of making sure that the child/children out of this arrangement were taken care of. Since gays can't bear children because of Mother Nature; what is the real reason for them wanting marriage. They can love each other all they want in the privacy of thier own home all they want, so why marriage. It is spread all over why. - Monitary reasons - and only monitary reasons. They want their significant other to have benifts showered onto the significant other. Footing these benifits comes out of my pockets, therefore I am dead set againt this red herring.

I thank you for your input, but I'm still in the dark about how to send the picture. What I gather is that one needs to know the size that the other person is going to print the picture, and appropiatlely send it in the amount of pixels necessary for that size of picture. Id est, one amount of pixels for a 8x10 and smaller amount (size) for a 4x6, for them, after receiving the e-mail to print an acceptable picture.
The situation is this, I take pictures of hikes I go on and was sending the pictures to one of the rangers. They like them and have asked approval to use some of them in the pamphlets they print to promote the park. But it takes a long time week after week to send these "hot off the camera". In other words, the large files and I have stopped because of the time consumption of uploading. A smaller file would be sent quicker, but would they be able to print a picture if I sent it to them?

I understand that if just showing a picture to someone on a monitor and/or e-mailing it as a 72 ppi they get to see a good picture, but what if you are sending it so they can print the picture. Would you e-mail it as a 72 and allow them to convert it, or send it as a 300 ppi so they would get a good quality picture that's printable from the start?
Any information on this would be appriciated.

I do have many relatives that are police officers, and had a close friend that was one at one time, so I am not against officers just to be anti-social. While talking with Bob he would tell me of things what he and others would do just to get their jollies off. This was strickly bullying, and I would comment about that in that way. If any other person would have done some of these things, they would have landed in jail for a very long time. But, because for their badge, they were exempt or excused from punishment because of their behavior. The Blue Thin Line. We all need to be equal in the eyes of the law, not have exemptions for some just because they enforce it. This officer was an example of those that fall through the crack and get a job where a bully can get away with murder. Yes murder, off the top of my head I can think of at least 4 incidents where cops should have been charged with murder. One in Chicago because of a wallet, one in San Dieago becasue they were at the wrong house on a warrent, one in Ajo Az because one officer wanted to prove his worth, and one in Tucson Az because of their execution of a warrent. Oh a 5th ,what about Waco, that was a total fiasco of our authority bullying. If this stress gets to these guys, then they are in the wrong field of employment.

Several say you must reply to a reasonable request of a police officer just because an officer comes over and starts to ask questions. What happened to the Constitution of the United States; has it been suspended without my knowing? The 5th Admendment covers - you are not required to answer any questions and are not required to talk to the police. As a matter of fact it was required that they tell you this fact when arrested. This man clearly states he does not want to talk to the police officer that is confronting him. No crime has been committed, none was being investigated in the area other than the ticketing of the driver of the car. This whole incident in the area was over, but then an officer goes out of his way, yes out of his way, you see him come walking out of the blinding lights way back there, and approach this man directly and starts the bullying incident. The man says he doesn't want to talk to the officer and that is the only reason of his arrest. He's not required to show ID. So why a law suit? Because the officer's just couldn't get into the police car and leave. Common sense says the one who starts the incident should be the one punished. The bully, not the target. Your blind if you can not see that cop targeted him. There is none blinder than one who does not want to see! I have been twice accosted at different times by such officers. I had to endue the lambasting by one of them (including screaming in the ears [chin on the shoulder] and being spit upon by him), the other in my own home. A plainclothesman, while on duty, in a marked black and white, came to my door and wanted in to talk to me. I said no, just stay outside. Then he started in on me about a private matter between another person and me; then started threatening me. I asked him to wait a second and went to the phone and called IA with him standing there. IA wanted to talk to him right then, I refused to let him in the house, told them he has radios and other means and to contact him that way. A raving cop, with a gun, and a badge and they wanted me to let him in the house. No way! They both were severly taken care of. This cop of this story is just another bully! As for those who advocate to bending of the knee to authority just becasue it is authority, this country is awash in the blood of patriots who died for the freedom we have. It just goes to show how cheaply you think freedom and rights are becasue it wasn't your blood spilled by you advocate the giving of freedoms and rights away to authority just because its authority. It's this thinking that gave humanity the Ceasar's and Hitler and all the rest of scum of authority in authority at those times. The arrested man was standing on his rights, you are helping to trample on them. At least the jurists and judges know the difference, when they make the awards they make, that you are griping about. The adage about speech "I may not like what you say, but I'll defend you right to say it", also can be streatched to encompass I may not like what you do, but I'll defend you right to do it. You should also be defending his rights. Why will all the charges dropped that the officer brings against him. Because the bully had no grounds for the charges or arrest in the first place! I could go on and on .....

On the Japanese cows and milk you missed that they glow in the dark - so you can find them without lights in the fields and clean up spilt milk easier in the dark!

A card reader is a devise that can read a card. There are various types of cards for various applications. With cameras there are two main ones CF and SD cards. Your camera may have a small amount of available storage in the camera itself to take a few pictures. With a card installed, you have greater storage capacity since these cards come with different amounts of storage ability, therefore take a whole lot more pictures and/or hold a lot more movies you take. e.g. a SD card you can get them almost anywhere from a few Mb (older versions) to 64 gigabytes. Most people use between 8 - 32 GB SD cards in thier cameras. You can look in your camera manuel for what type card your camera takes.

Now for a reader, basically if your getting your pictures onto the computer with no problem - you don't need a card reader. (You can pop the card out of your camera and stick it into the reader and it shows the exact same thing.)

Hope this helps.

I recently bought a T4i and have been using it mainly for birding. I do have 2 kit lenses but also bought a L 100-400 and have been getting some excellent results. Love the articulated screen. Recently had to shoot over a wall to get some shots of White crown sparrows on the ground at a park with it. Wouldn't have been able to get them without it.

There is another department that one can go to that hasn't been mentioned within most police departments that's IA or is it AI. Twice I have been accosted by overbearring officers. Just get his badge number and after saying yes officer and leave the scene, call HQ and ask for IA (Internal Investigation) and report the incident. Your incident will get attention. I have been offered appologizes and offered excuses, by him, for his inappropiate behavior. You better be right though, and not peeved because of getting a ticket.

One thougth on it is to take more than one SD card. Reason: If something happens to the one and only card, you lose all your pictures, if you have the shots on more than one, your loss is less.
Also while shooting you can change cards, so as to have split the amount of pictures of the subject between the two (or more cards). Of course this is sometimes a hassle, but it is an option.
