My wife says I can have it if you will take $1200. Do you take PayPal or Venmo?

Mike,
Glad you can see the sun now. The transit starts before the sunrise here tomorrow. Hopeful to see it at sunrise.

Use the shadow of your equipment. Move the scope until it is a circle or the finder until it is as small as it can get. Then lock your equipment. Looking through your 25mm scope you should see the sun. This is an old survey trick used with theotolites when surveying using the sun.

It has taken me a while to figure out how to make this composite in Photoshop. I did it once before, a couple of years ago, of the Solar Eclipse. Today it only took my daughter a few minutes to set me back on the right path. (old dog forgot new tricks)

Photos were taken with Nikon D850 and Tamron 150-600 G2 lens using a monopod while sitting on our deck at about 10:00 p.m. each night. I only missed one night, due to clouds.

Settings varied from F/6.3 to F/11 with shutter speeds between 1/100 and 1/250 and ISO from 100-200.

Enjoy,
Steve

I took a short drive yesterday to the top of the Alpine Loop, on the back side of Mount Timpanogos, to check out the Fall colors. It was only 21 degrees F but there was no wind and the sun was shining. Beautiful day for photos.
Enjoy!

A few weeks ago my wife noticed a hummingbird in our yard so we bought a feeder and set it up.

Thought I would post a few "non-standard" photos. These birds show up in the evening when there is not a lot of light, still working on how to increase my DOF for two fast moving birds in the photo.

I believe these are Ruffus Hummingbirds and I read they don't like to share feeding areas.

Also, I posted some photos when they weren't fighting.

Great photo, thanks for sharing and giving us a new definition of "BIF" (bugs in flight).
Sorry I couldn't help myself.

Is a serpent considered a "loose impediment?"

It might be, but no one in our group was willing to move it.

1 stroke penalty????

Fortunately I saw it as I was getting out of the cart to walk towards my ball, it was almost a "stroke." My grandson suggest I drop by his drive, which was in the fairway, with no penalty. He still beat me soundly.

I was in the Phoenix area playing golf with my grandson. I missed the fairway on one hole and had a surprise waiting. Needless to say the ball is still there.

I’m going to Israel, Jordan (Amman and Petra) and Egypt in late October. I’m obsessing about what camera bag to pack and whether I should just stick with my SONY RX 10 IV and it’s brother the 100 V or get a Canon 28 to 300 zoom and stick it on my 80D and call it a day. If I go with the 80 D I know that I’m going to have to lug some of my wide angle glass (at a minimum my EF-S 10 to 18) and have to deal with changing lenses and carrying a much heavier bag. While if I go with the Sonys, I’m only loosing 18 mm (from the EF-S 10mm to the Sony’s 28 mm on the short side but gaining almost double the zoom on the long end.

Did I just talk myself into the Sonys? Thoughts or suggestions?

We were there in 2011 and I packed my Nikon D50 and 18-200mm Nikon Lens. The only photo opportunities I missed was night time on the Nile. Attached is an unedited photo of Petra. I would suggest you pack a good camera, a couple of lenses, and have a great time!

If I'm not mistaken that is a reticulated giraffe. Beautiful!

I think it is a Masai Giraffe. I thought the pattern looked kind of Canadian. 😁

Thanks for your comment. It is easy to recognize lions as "King" when you see how every other animal won't take their eyes off of them for even a second.

The tree behind the elephants impressed me.

It is a Boabab tree. Elephants tear the bark off the tree to get liquid (water) in the dry season. The tree trunk is huge, not much in the way of branches and leaves. The trees of Africa are so recognizable and photogenic.
