I've been doing alot of "Blue Hour" photographs lately. Here's a few examples. In all 3 cases I'm shooting in tungsten mode (3200K) to enhance the effect and shift the sky blue. If they were shot in daylight mode the sky would be mostly gray. The gazebo shot is with existing light from the bulb above. The other two have a full CTO gel on the backlight and a video light in tungsten mode as the main light off camera. All 3 have some slight dodging in PS to lighten and or vignette the sky. Canon R5 camera with 50 1.2 and 16-35 2.8 lenses.

Upload images directly to your hard drive before importing to LR. This will take the reader out of the equation.

In the film days complicated metering methods were necessary to determine an accurate mix of ambient and daylight exposure. With the invention of digital and the instant review screen those complex calculations (though still useful for some) are just not needed in my view. Tri this---

Take an initial image and underexpose slightly using your in camera meter. Set your flash to manual mode 1/16 power and view image. Add or subtract flash power until you like the result you see. If the flash becomes overwhelming you have gone too far and may need to add more ambient, stop down the aperture, or adjust the flash accordingly. It doesn't have to be more complicated than that.

Hi Harvey
Try taking a shot looking into the sun (not directly at it)
You can actually look into the viewfinder and compose your shot.

Also notice that you can see how the shot will be exposed when taking the shot. (when the feature is turned on)
You can see the histogram, level, and other info in the viewfinder as well if selected.

The actual end result of shots is the same. The difference is a lot of the guesswork is removed.

The Canon Powershot G9 is a really nice point and shoot model. Shirt pocket size and high quality.

Nothing worse than an unforced error. If someone says your situation hasn’t ever happened to them, they are either lying or they have no experience. Time cures all wounds. Move on.
