I am not a fan of paying to learn period. I design hydraulic cylinders for a living and use complex drafting software with no college. If you apply yourself you can learn anything. We have Jr degreed engineers that can't pour piss out of a boot and not a bit of common sense, most don't last.

If travel photography makes one money why is one selling online classes to make money? Online there is a wealth of information available for free just takes time. Good luck in your endeavor.

I started with a Nikon D3200 with a kit lens. Bought a 55-200 lens a week later for more reach 5hen got a 55-300 for even more reach. In 2 years I got a D7100. So you will spend more than 1000 over time and you advance in skill and needs. I would guess I have spent 3000 now on everything. Just buy a little at a time and you will have all you need or want.

Saturday we had a major snowstorm with 15" of heavy wet snow. Made for a pretty landscape yesterday as I ventured out to capture it in HDR. No critique just enjoy the scenery.

You people must realize I'm a Vet. Donnie said I would be treated better under his watch. MANY on here must have missed that speech. No cuss words were ever used....just the t***h/my opinion. Thats what life is all about....people helping people.

People helping people who don't ask for it so you go off and post a separate thread to voice your "opinion" attacking someone who blocked you and still voicing you "opinion" is bordering on harasment.

Because you were in the service does not give you the right to harass others nor disrespect them.

Exactly the reason I blocked you for critiques on another post that was not asking for it. You know because one shares their images does not mean you come swooping in like a Vulture to do nothing but negative critique on those images.

Many here post because they enjoy what they took not because they plan on it being a museum display. If not asked for then do not offer up your critical bashing of images.

There are two ways to offer critique and your way is the wrong one. Good day.

I like them all. The first is my favorite with the fence leading lines.

Funny how the above comments were all critical and I don't believe you asked for critique so for that the individual earned a spot on my block list. He even made a post about being blocked by another user for what I assume is the same reason.

You said 100%; No such thing as a part-time pro ????? A second shooter is not a pro ?????

My thoughts exactly. I was a professional designer but since 5% of my income comes from photography I am no longer able to call myself professional in either field?

Most professional artists died broke and poor and never made money from their work but they most definitely were professional.

Again what is the point in asking this question over and over. What does it matter what you are called? Are we really hung up on titles such as "pro" in our society? Do you enjoy what you do for a living, if so then it matters not what you call yourself or what others think.

Up next will be the definition of artist or photographer debate. I consider myself an amateur photographer but 100% artist.

A professional photographer is a photographer who earns 100% of his income from photography. This is the definition required for entrance into the secret Nikon and Canon factory support organizations. Amateur Photographer. People who earn less than 50% of their income from photography are amateurs.

!

And all the professional great painters in history made a living doing their work in their lifetime right?

I would much rather hear about the journey of the image than the brand of lens wipe used to clean the lens. Settings are not too important but nice to see how others shoot. Brand naming is most likely a way to pay for sponsors who gave mentioned equipment

If you get into the bottom of a well or a tall chimney and look up, you can see stars, even in the middle of the day.

This one is not true. Not sure about the rest.

My interest is primarily outdoor photography. My comments are with that focus. When I take an image I try to capture it as close as possible to what I see. Now, I have no complaint with those who do extensive PP. My only request is when an image is made public the photographer note that it represents substantial PP, in much the same way that some photographers note when an image of a wild animal was taken in captivity.

Ummm yeah not gonna happen. Do you expect painters to divulge what paints and brushes he used to paint with. My thought on this is jealousy plays a part when a really beautiful well processed image is seen and someone comments about the PP it 8s jealousy pure and simple.

You are in a hobby which has become an art form and the really good images seen and praised today have been PP. I understand this when looking at most images on the Web. The most I wonder is how did they create that. "yeah it is nice but it is not real he/she photoshopped it." Who cares??

Nikon D600, D610, D810 Wasabi batteries (2) worked as well as OEM.
Nikon D850 the same Wasabi batteries aren’t recognized.

This ought to tell everyone something. They encode the batteries to try and force people to buy their brand at 40 to 50 dollars each for a 15 dollar part. How well received would this be if Ford or GM did the same and charged 400 for a battery. I like my Nikon but they charge way too much for accessories. My battery grip was 45 bucks new Nikon was 200. It works great and I was able to put the savings towards better glass.

I have K-star batteries and used over a year with no issues. I believe 2 for 25 at the time. I don't care about brand names all I want is performance.

I use n9n OEM batteries in my D7100 all the time and never have an issue using them. Even if they only last for a year I can buy 3 for the price of one Nikon. Make sure you get decoded ones or they may not work. As far as used ones I would not even consider it.

Some people get too hung up on branding no matter the cost and in essence what you pay a premium for is the brand name and not the product itself.
