This is a very interesting post. I have just unearthed my AE-1 and will get some B & W film for it tomorrow. I will be off to take some prize winning pix. Naturally, I will not take my film to Walmart.

I recently had a chat with a friend who is into Astrophotography and does it with a Canon 60Da. He loves it. I would like to do some of the same but the 60Da is in the same $$ playground as the new 70D. If I jump into that playground, I would feel better with the 70D. Now comes the real question. Are there any "add-on" filters available that will enable the T2I or 60D to approach the Astro ability of the 60Da? Thank you to those who read this question and to those who answer it. Best wishes for a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Welcome to the Hog. Don't feel too badly. The neighborhood gas station is gone also. Now a simple lube job, oil change and tune-up is only available at a much higher priced auto mechanic shop. Oh, by the way, film is available at the 99 cent stores. Merry Christmas and best wishes for a Happy and Healthy New Year.

My B&H newsletter came today and introduced a new Nikon and a "new" 58mm f1.4 lens. I'm depressed because I'm not interested in the new offerings, and I'm actually satisfied with what I have. My 1959 version of the 58mm still works on my d5000, and all my other lenses work on my d7000. I realize there is no cure for NAS, but I feel sort of empty because I don't WANT anything else! Any suggestions?

Dear Buckwheat:
I understand your depression. You must fight off this feeling of satisfaction with your present equipment. I recommend a plate of chocolate chip cookies and a glass of cold milk. While your sitting at the table, slowly review the latest B & H catalog. I think that your depression will subside.

Unfortunately, we in the USA have 50 different states laws that may or may not be consistent. Your case turned on the facts not the law. The issue is "expectation of privacy" in one's home. Shooting pictures of the inside of someone's home is a dangerous activity. I would not recommend that kind of activity.

I have for the last few years taken photos from a Christmas parade that is all horse drawn and have a number of great photos. Since it is a public event on public property can I produce a a calendar to sell to the local townspeople? It could be 20 or perhaps 100.
Thanks, Here in KS

Ron:
Check with the sponsor of the parade. It is possible that the participants are required to sign releases for liability and use of photos in which the individuals may be depicted. If there are the appropriate releases, ask the sponsor if you can be the official event photographer. Agree to give them a piece of the action. Get some local merchants to buy some ads to cover the costs of production and go for it.

I suggest one step in between moving your files to a portable HD and formatting your card........copy files to cd/DVD.

I believe that a civil and sane exchange is possible among photographers. I am going to try one more time. Does anyone have a new recipe for OATMEAL?
