Dave,
I love the composition and the basic proportions of all components...from the fine detail of the blooming foreground grasses with all texture detail receding smoothly with the modeled terrain to the horizon. The dogs in the grass path are the perfect hook for focus of mid-ground.

The tall slender dark one? A coursing hound? Saluki?
The other a Westie?
How far off am I on those guesses?

Thanks for making the cellphone effort to post this week.

A definitely worthy image!

As you might have suspected, I could not resist a 3D conversion...and I am most pleased with the result.
It is presented as a stereo triplet. The left two arranged for parallel gaze, and the right two arranged for crossed gaze.

Dave
Dave, br I love the composition and the basic prop... (show quote)

Pleased you've looked-in Dave, and glad you like it.
Not miles off on the dogs. The skinny one is a lurcher, cross greyhound/saluki. The toddler iOS a yorkie/jack (Yorkshire terrier/Jack Russell terrier cross). Often mistaken for a Parson's Jack Russell. They are great pals and are never apart.
I posted my favourite shot off them a couple of years ago - you can find it here: www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-383044-1.html
Needless to say, my lousy eyesight doesn't make much of the 3D version - my fault, not yours I'm sure.
Many thanks for commenting - hope you are keeping well.
Dave.

I keep coming back every time someone comments on your picture Dave. The car/no car discussion is interesting as, had it not been there, a car would be the last thing most people would think to add. However, when it’s there it may be construed as a menace to the young lady, putting a different angle altogether on the storyline. When it’s not there the whole thing becomes a rather pleasant pencil sketch in its own right. And the lack of the car opens up other possibilities - what might be a figure lurking at the end of the walkway could become more distinct, another menace perhaps. So many possibilities, I’m sure you’ll be playing with this one for a while yet!

I enjoyed the tour very much! That is quite a natural wonder.

Is it just me, or does the tone of ol' Doc Coker's haughty criticism remind you of internet trolls?

Like the rock, they’ve been around for some time Linda! The rock of course has something worthwhile to offer.

You’ve transformed it for sure! Your later versions start to match the title really well - reminds me of a firework display.
RG has pointed you at HSL - do play with luminance as well as saturation, together they work wonders!

Well I’m a bit late to the party but I do like this picture Linda. Colours and composition are just fine with me - and the Grainy texture. It all seems to work very well together. Were it mine I’d be trying to make the moon a bit bigger and less white, but that would probably wreck it!

As Bob said to kick-off with Dave, far from your usual style. But, so appropriate to the shot. I really love the effect you’ve come up with. The young lady’s drawing looks like water weeds - perhaps she added a goldfish before finishing?

Very nice, magnetoman. Thanks for the additional locational photos that help establish a relationship of the rock to the surrounding area.

Thanks for looking Bob. This is the most popular tor on Dartmoor, no doubt due to the proximity of a road and the steps.

Following my post of a few days ago, here are a few more from Haytor Rock, Dartmoor. The first is similar to my previous post and is taken with a 'proper' camera (rather than a phone). The others give some idea of what the rock is like. It's just a smidgen short of 1500 feet high - one foot short in fact. (That's 457 metres high to the converted). Not terribly tall but high enough to kill you if you fall off.
Lots of rock climbers practice on it but, for the likes of me, a set of steps makes life easier. They were cut into the rock in the 1800's and there was a handrail as well, but that has since been removed. In 1851 a Doctor Coker is quote as saying ' the unsightly stair step is to enable enervated and pinguedinous scions of humanity of this wonderful nineteenth century to gain the summit' - basically for the tired and fat heirs of the nineteenth century (and me!). I don't know what the fuss was about, they hardly stand-out. Maybe they did when new. We actually started the ascent in the wrong place and made it a bit more difficult for ourselves. In reality there's only one spot that demands a stretch and some extra care.
I've tried to process the first two shots to convey the feeling I had at the summit - the sun almost overhead caused high contrast and it was quite warm. Please let me have your opinions if you have time, I do appreciate them.

My 1st thought was "you would never get me up there", then I looked closer and could see you added to the illusion of height with the camera angle. Good job! I would like to see the final product from the camera.

Gilbert

I’ll post the ‘proper’ shot when I get home, with a couple that show the height of the rock. I’m not sure how high it is but, sadly, people have killed themselves jumping off.
Thanks for commenting Gilbert, it’s appreciated.

That's a lot detail its captured in the rock just below where your daughter is sitting! As phone camera's go, is it anything special?

No, it’s just an Apple 5S John. Wife keeps telling me to get one like hers - now that does have a decent camera, but at the price she paid I should hope so! I’m not into phone photos so I’ll stick with my old’n a while longer. I only took this one so I could send it to son-in-law - a real outside man who had to stay home studying!

You could try a bit of distortion to bring the shore round to bottom right Bob?

Not that I know about Linda - but I got a shot with my camera too, so that should be OK when I get to download. I’ll post a shot of the tor as well when I’m home.
