Prior to my A7iii, I shot with a Canon T6i, I had a Sigma 120-400 zoom with a Canon mount. The person who helped me back before my camera store went out of business, recommended the Sigma MC-11 to allow me to keep using my zoom. I also purchased a used Canon 24-105 since I had the adapter. I don't have a frame of reference for focus - it seems mine focuses the same percentage of the time that the T6i did, I don't see a focus difference. The image quality is better which I would hope. I'm not familiar with the A7ii, so can't comment directly to it. But I do have 2 Canon/Sigma lenses and a Sigma MC11 adapter that seem to work just fine. Maybe shooting mainly landscapes and perched birds has a bearing. Good Luck!
Awesome! A few years ago, we hiked the Highline Trail up to Swiftcurrent, then down Swiftcurrent to Many Glacier. Easily the most scenic hike I have ever experienced. Would love to do it again. I remember a sign as we left Granite Chalet and headed up to Swiftcurrent - "Bear Activity In Area" -- YIKES! We saw a moose, but no bears. You photos are great, thanks for the memories!
The colors on that young white-faced ibis are stunning! I've only seen them from a distance and they appear rather drab, but your photo shows different! THANKS!
These are great! I have male/female red-bellied woodpeckers too. How did you teach them to pose like that? Mine always want to be hiding on the wrong side of the river birch!
Second buying used! Try Roberts Camera/Used Photo Pro. They have a Canon Rebel EOS T3i 18 mp body for $155 and a Canon 70-200 lens for $69. Well within your budget, older but that's the camera I started with years ago, and my favorite "walk around" everyday lens. There are lots of Nikons & other brands as well, I just don't personally have any experience with them... be sure to check Used Photo Pro by Roberts Camera - google it for the URL. ENJOY!!!
Wow, just WOW! Thank you so much for sharing your photos, they demonstrate all the beauty in simplicity.

I agree with Kaskazi, Jan
THANKS Roadrunner & Kaskazi!
Depth of Field ... Boca Grande Beach back in February before all the beaches in Florida were closed.
My alma mater! Great photos, great memories. Thanks!
I like it, but echo the sentiment, why not start on April 1?

Thanks much - will weigh your advice. One of the negatives I read on the fuji was cranky menus. I was turned off by cranky menus with the Oly E-M1/II, an otherwise fine piece of equip. I like the menu sys on my Canon bodies.
If you dislike "cranky" menus, I'd advise against Sony! I switched from Canon to Sony & it was a learning curve to get "almost" comfortable after 9 months of regular use.
Last time I gave my impressions of the Sony RX10, I was ridiculed, so I'll just say RENT the cameras you're considering before you buy. Renting allows you to have a better understanding of actually using the camera. I use www.lensrentals.com and have been very satisfied.
Last night (Friday 3/20) they closed the beaches at Don Pedro Beach State Park & Cayo Costa State Park. :( Yesterday afternoon, we took a walk on the beach at Don Pedro there were several large groups - not kids - that arrived on rental pontoon boats sitting around with their umbrellas and chairs. So now the closure ruining it for everyone.
Your photos are so beautiful and inspirational to us all in these uncharted times in history.... THANK YOU!
I have a favorite tree back in Illinois farm country, no photographs in winter (yet) since we relocate for warmer weather... Here's my tree from September & October 2019....

Sorry he said RX10vii which isn’t made. Perhaps he meant RX100vii?
No, meant RX10 IV, I'm renting the RX100 viii in a few weeks to try it. And I didn't have good results in the rainforests or at the longer length. Maybe it was me ....
