Nice shots of a gorgeous machine. I especially like seeing the matching-color Stud. Avanti behind the '31 in pic#2.

I'd probably categorize most of these as "textures," but many of them are patterns as well. Nice work!

Same here (texture). In the first one, my eye went immediately to the John Lennon doll, with what looks like a hockey stick but must actually be a microphone. Nice set.

Super shot. Love the warm/cool mix. Glad you didn't warm it up to much. But that's just a personal taste of mine.

Agree with mflowe, very nice composition and color balance. I'm not sure that wishing for bears is such a good idea, especially in Grizzly Land.

Looking at them closely, I would say no - not sharp enough - for two reasons: depth of field/focus is two shallow and slow shutter speed on the second one. Re the first one, look closely at the beak and tongue; they're out of focus while, closer to the camera, the feathers are suitably sharp. The second one also suffers from the depth problem as well as the flying bird's wings are probably too blurred for a magazine to consider.

In any case, I would submit the to the mag and let them decide. (I rather enjoy the caption on the second one even though I despise starlings.)

I think you're right, Paul. We used to play softball somewhere on the Mall and that must have been the place. (I worked at the State Dept. - not pictured - for 25 years.)

Nice shots, especially the Capitol and Library of Congress.

In pic 6, any idea of what they're planning for that large vacant lot to the left (south) of the Reflecting Pool?

A fine setting. Back off the saturation.

Nice composition and color balance. I agree with Orphoto about backing off the saturation.

I recently read an article that said not to use software but scanners to enlarge photos. Wondering if anyone has any experience with both of these methods and opinions on which is better or if it makes any difference.
Thanks in advance.

I've scanned old prints, negs and slides at very high resolution levels (with my Epson V600) and have had success having them printed in larger sizes. Of course, the original pic must be of high quality to begin with, and shot on high res, quality 35 MM film (Kodachrome or Ektrachrome my faves).

If you're talking about scanning prints made from digital files, I can't imagine how that would improve the pic in any way.

I've learned that, if one is not shooting the Three Bs (birds, bugs or blossoms) there appears to be a lot less interest among amateur photogs (or at least UHH members) for others' work.

FWIW, I just sold my mint condition Nikkor 200-500 f/5.6 to Roberts Camera for $810. (Too heavy for me.) I notice that they advertise and sell the same lens (mint) for $1200, just to give y'all a reference point. (MPB offered me $720 for the lens.)

You took an eight-shot panorama from a moving airplane?!! I'm impressed. Would enjoy seeing it in "Download."

Excellent shot!

I always feel a little sorry for salmon who make it all the way to Idaho and get snatched before they can mate.

I abandoned HP years ago and have since used only Epson printers, with which I've always been happy. There are several models to choose from, and occasionally you can find a refurbished one on Epson's website, or eBay.

Personal cameras weren't permitted in the cockpit :( :(

Too bad you had such a tight-assed sqdn. or wing commander. It's ironic you were not allowed to carry a camera while flying a PHOTO RECONNAISANCE plane.

Found this Rich, http://www.columbiaco.com/ seems like there is a Columbia or maybe I have it wrong. Anyway, you're right, it is tilted slightly, probably when I was cropping.... Cheers

Thanks, Blaster, learned something new. A little bitty county in eastern WA I've never heard of. (WA has 39 counties.) Anyway, nice capture of the courthouse.
