Hey Jerry,
I used to live on the other side of the island from you, at Broad Channel, Queens... Every saturday morning about 0745 I would be awakened by the Concord, which was loud landing!!! Then about 0830 it would take off, which was deafening and it shook the whole house as it flew over the top of us!!! Now, to this day I have never heard a jet make that much noise taking of and landing!!!

hope this isn't a dup, the internet died on me. .anyway didja know John Christian, my sons godfather, usta live broad channel, Joanie still does, didja work fer Green Line??

Concord went over beach @ Sailor Haven Fire Island, stopped conversation on the beach... you hadda look way ahead of the noise to spot him

yeh, I grew up in VS before moving to Islip then Saugerties. when in Islip my wife bought a couch from some guy who had just sold his house somewhere down along Peninuslar blvd in far rockaway (I guess) anyway, while we were humping the couch on the truck, a plane went over, landing Idewild,........ you could see people in the windows! I made some remark about the #$%^ noise and I guy watching us said "thanks,I just bought this place".. he wasn't happy... I also remember CHAIN DRIVEN Colineal sand and gravel trucks going thru VS carrying "fill" from Northport to Idlewild thru S Franklin Ave in Valley Stream. JFK was ALL swamp...for probably months the trucks went by, seemed like every ten minutes...

LED lights running on AC. An LED only lights up when current is flowing in one direction. When it flows the other direction they are dark. This happens 60 times per second so your eyes will not see the flickering. The flicker threshold varies with individuals but is generally below 30/second, which is why that is the movie frame rate.

Use a slower shutter speed.

I am not sure that they hafta be LEDs, I suspect filament bulbs flash also, but LEd is the correct answer.. BTW, film (movie) projectors have a frame rate of about 25/sec but EACH frame is exposed TWICE therefore the flicker rate is about 50/sec... somebody was thinking years and years ago.....

watching a football game where a long lens is used, object farther away seem larger. this distortion is least(35mm full frame) when a 50mm lens is used, the main reason why it is so popular. for portrats, (for whatever reason) most use 100mm lens..(something to do with making the nose look smaller).

Being knowable about all the things you have to know about Guns comes from education.
Actors don't have to be.
This is why they have an Armorer that is educated in guns on a set to insure safety.
I feel that actors have to know how to act and should not be responsible to know guns, only how to point them and make the blanks go off.
This is why I feel that the armorer is responsible for the mistake and should be the only one responsible.

All this talk about firearm safty reminds me.... in the army I got stuck with "prison chaser", a detail like KP where you took prisoners on work details or to court or whatever.. Waiting for work, the guy next to me was screwing around with his 45 and scared the hell out of me when he put a round thru the floor.. (there was a box to load and unload your weapons, he had been instructed to use it and did not..). Poor guy is probably still in levenworth, and after the noise of a 45 fired inside, right next to me, I almost needed my laundry done. (fortunately, he was a poor shot)

If there is a firearm around, it has everything to do with firearm safety. ANYONE who has to handle any kind of gun should be taught in advance how to check it and handle it. It doesn't matter that it is on a set of a movie.

it wasnt a firearm, it was a prop & it probably SHOULD have been loaded with blanks so that clearing it would be a JOKE!!!, it was (probably) suposed to be loaded!!! and the actor had more to think about except a $%%^ prop, he was thinking about how he could execute his actions (lines he had to say) and there was probably 5 guys around makeing sure his cigarette was the correct length, his clothes was as clean (or dirty) as the last scene and about 1000 other things.. I am back to a murder investigation, but not of the actor, the guys who were preparing him for the shoot, it was their responciability to insure that the gun was loaded (or not), and what with...... etc etc...

It's a FIREARM. It matters. There is a difference.

Either way Alex owns everything...
He is the producer...responsible for the ENTIRE set and production.
He is the person who discharged a weapon while pointing it at another person...killing that person.

It's all on him...all of it.

..............................he did not discharge a weapon,he used a studio prop!
