The first two images are ravens with radio transmitters. I thought it was odd to see two ravens perched side by side with transmitter antennas showing. Otherwise I rather like the third image in download. I hope you enjoy.

Apparently, there was a recent kill just beyond the hill. Ravens, eagles, and magpies filled the sky at times. There appears to be bald, golden and immature eagles, and some were successful at getting food. I watched the ravens harass the eagles for a couple of hours, and took way too many pictures. I hope you enjoy.

These are just trees I found isolated in Yellowstone. I rather like the first and fourth picture. The second image might have worked if it had been covered in snow, but there was a shortage of snow. I hope you enjoy.

A great encounter! It is always a thrill to see them, but I hate that they have mange. I wonder if that had anything to do with why they were darting them, probably not. I also did not understand keeping all the pull outs blocked for days after they were all goneā€¦..

The pullouts were still closed 5 days after the kill. I thought the darting was being done in order to collar them.

There were two wolves on a distant hill, and one approached to within 140 yards of me when he was entering a stand of willows. There was apparently an elk carcass hidden in the willows. The second wolf eventually disappeared over the hillside due to traffic and human commotions. There is no way to explain some people's behavior. If you look closely, you can see the wolf's coat is in poor condition. Apparently this wolf, and very likely the rest of the pack have mange. I believe these wolves are from Eight Mile Pack, but I could be wrong. I hope you enjoy.

This is a parting shot taken along highway 89, just north of Gardiner. The morning sky looks much better in download, but the telling image is the last. It seems to be an appropriate end for a slow week in Yellowstone.

Oh, that stinks! I guess they got a bunch a couple days ago plus wind!!!!! Will you post your wolf? I did not get great moose like I wanted. I have some I like, a few of the pine marten turned out.

Yes, I will post my wolf, but It is not one to be proud of. Among other things, it has the mange.

A few more bison. The first 2 days were the best weather wise for photos. We did get a couple little very short lived snow squalls throughout the rest of the time. But not enough to do anything. I guess they are getting snow now...

You did much better than me with the bison. I stayed for the promised storm on Monday, and it was very light snowfall and it came late in the day.

Tomorrow I head to Yellowstone for a week or so. It has been a very low snowpack year and much, much warmer. Last time I was there it was -35 one morning the forecast now is for mid 40's during the day!!!
A few from my last winter visit. It is always a mystery, will there be good photo opportunities or not...
I know the last is not everyone's cup of tea, but I like it!

I am on my way to Yellowstone today. I'm driving from south Texas, so I will not arrive in Gardiner until 17th. I am hoping for more snow, but it does not look promising.

Great birds! The hybrid is a cross with a Military Macaw. They are also native.
