Joe, your photos of birds never ceases to amaze me. The level of detail of the downloaded image when magnified is remarkably sharp and clear. In posts above they state that you used a Sony camera. I've been looking at moving to the Sony mirrorless world and in particular to the A7R II. What do you use and what lens do you have?

What no love for the 1998 Yankees? Record of 114 wins and only 48 losses which still is the most wins by a team that won the World Series. In the playoffs they swept the Texas Rangers in the American League Division Series, won the American League pennant by beating the Cleveland Indians in 6 games in the American League Championship Series, and swept the San Diego Padres in the World Series. Including the playoffs, the 1998 Yankees won a total of 125 games against 50 losses which is a MLB record.

One of my big problems with all of the Nikon Z series cameras is the lack of third party, like Sigma, lenses. I did some searching to try to find some and from what I have been able to ascertain Nikon hasn't made there Z camera design available to third parties like Sony has so you will find them out there for Sony but not for Nikon. If I'm wrong could someone please point me in the right direction.

The Hue option can now be use in the Graduated Filter, Radial Filter and Adjustment Brush. This is a big deal for me. Can adjust or change colors to a selected area.

Steve Perry at http://www.backcountrygallery.com has some great books on the Nikon exposure and autofocus systems. They are the two most important area to learn in any digital camera. They will help you to understanding the features and limitation of the camera for the two areas. The books only address the Nikon system however, they do cover all Nikon models and the differences between each with menus and their settings and buttons relating to the two subjects.

I bought a new D7200 last year when Nikon was phasing it out through B&H with an extra battery and SD card at a really good price. I love the camera. The buffer is a problem if you take 6 or 7 raw images on continuous high. There are two continuous settings so I mostly use the slower setting and it works fine for the most part. If you are shooting wildlife or sports then this could be a problem but otherwise this camera is great.

As for the two card slot I use it if I shoot two different events and just change the cards in the slots so that I get the events on separate cards but I probably could do without the extra slot. I once heard a photojournalist on a podcast say that a second slot was important for his work. He would write to one card in raw and the second in JPG. This way he was able to use the JPG to meet deadlines and have the raw file to work with at a later time. As one poster said that when on a once in a lifetime trip the extra redundancy is a necessity. For some it is important and for others not so much.

I feel I still have a lot to learn and have not grown out of the D7200 yet so I will probably stay with it until I feel that I'm ready to move on. When I do it will probably be to a mirrorless camera but for now I will stay with the D7200.

If you use Lightroom (LR) to store your images, before you start to delete images you should review the recommendations from the Lightroom Queen. She makes some excellent recommendations on how to delete a photo and how LR handles it based on what you might do (move, delete or rename). My basic take and by no means is this this all inclusive, backup before you do anything and make sure that you only work from within LR and not just remove them from your storage drive. If you use LR it should know where you move a photo and what was removed.

Over the month of January I ranked all photos with the star ratings available in LR, removed all photos that were rated as 1 or 2 stars, and then moved all of them to folders based on their date. Before this I used descriptive names to identify groups of photo however, this was become more difficult to find photos that were taken years back. I used the LR Queens recommended hierarchical structure. As a result of all of this I removed about half of my photos and have found with the removal and the reorganization that the filles are much more manageable. I was a hoarder and wouldn't delete anything. I now use the rating system and remove those pictures that I would never use soon after I import them into LR.

I had a number of the old CRT screens that I needed to get rid of when I was moving. I found out that Staples has a computer recycle policy where then will take old computers, screens, printers, etc. They will not take TV's.

In lightroom under Preferences and the External Editing tab under a heading Edit in Adobe Photoshop 2020 you will find the default file format as being TIFF and not PSD although you can change it to PSD. The default Color Space is Prophoto RGB, and the default Bit Depth is 16. When you take a photo from Lightroom to Photoshop to work on if you save the changed photo the saved image will be returned back next to the original photo with a TIFF extension and be recognized. There is an option in the save command to retain the layers so it remains in tacked for further edits. You can use the "save as" option and save it with a different extension but I don't know where the saved file will go. I would guess that you could direct it to a folder on a drive of your choice however, it will not be recognized by Lightroom catalog until you import in Lightroom the TIFF photo so you are better off in most instances to use the Save option and have the changed photo appear in the Catalog.

These are the default options which can be changed but it looks to me like Adobe is telling you that a TIFF is better for you then there own PSD file format. Why Adobe does this is far beyond me but perhaps someone else can shed some light on this.

Yes if the price is right but as other have stated be careful. I bought a use Nikon through Amazon and didn't know that the Sensor was scratched until I went to sell it. The buying company had to return it after they examined it. I still have the Camera but it is useless. I will never buy a used camera through Amazon again. Buyer beware.

Beside the Camera they may have other accessories like tripods and heads, flash equipment, lens, camera bags, etc. that you may be able to obtain at a good price.

I read in Steve Perry's Secrets_To_The_Nikon_Autofocus_System that for VR the system samples at a rate of once every 500th of a second and in order for it to work it needs two samples. If you are shooting at 1,000th of a second the shot there is not enough time for the two samples so the system could cause a problem at speeds higher then 500. This is based on older technology and doesn't however take into account newer lens and other factors. He recommends testing to determine when it should be used.
