According to Goggle, the secondary definition of landscape is: "make (a piece of land) more attractive by altering the existing design, adding ornamental features, and planting trees and shrubs."

As an example. "the site has been tastefully landscaped"

I am not ready to trust a car in full self driving mode. Particularly in New England, where the snow covers the road and its markings.
I am not ready to use a car with limited range and few recharging stations that take a significant amount of time to recharge.

I like my hybrid. It uses fuel that is readily available and takes 5 minutes or less to refill. It has a 450-550 mile range.

My wife and I own two ICE vehicles. one is 14 years old the other is six years old. Both are in excellent operational and structural condition. Together they have around 165K miles. They both get over 24 to 27 mpg on the highway with a range of over 350 miles each, and have over 22 to 25 mpg average over their lifetimes. Both were paid for several years ago and maintenance has been kept up to date with a reliable mechanic. We have no intention of purchasing an EV or even a hybrid at this time. If, or when, either one is damaged beyond repair and if we need a second vehicle we may consider a hybrid. At 77 years old we do not really anticipate needing another vehicle any time soon, or in the near future.

According to my wife I have selective hearing. I admit I do use (need) hearing aids, which she claims do not work.

I'm just curious as to how many veterans we have here, so I will start the ball rolling.

USMC, MOS-1391, 1975-1979, rank at discharge Sergeant E-5

USN, 8/1/68 to 7/31/72. GLNTC for boot finished as SN (E-3) as I had two years of college and then NavHospCorSch graduated as HN (E-3); Camp Montford Point, Camp LeJeune for FMSS; USNavHosp, Camp Lejeune was promoted to HM3 (E-4); BAS and Co C, 1-8-2 Camp Lejeune, promoted to HM2 (E-5); USS Fort Snelling, Little Creek VA. until release. Most memorable experience: I was called to the ship's bridge by the Captain one morning to photograph two Russian ships highlining supplies between them. Never saw the photos as the film was taken for intelligence reasons.

I live in a mountain community mostly consisting of retired people 20= miles from Jackson, CA- we are fortunate to have a variety of small businesses that make it convenient to not have to drive 20+ miles down to Jackson for any major shopping. One of those businesses is a small but good grocery store with all the thing of a larger supermarket
- good meat, produce, deli Items not carried by Dollar G. - Well a couple years ago Dollar G came up with a deal to take over the lease on the building of the grocery store- the areas population screamed blood murder - got petition and stopped the take over - well Dollar G bought a lot across the road built a building and was quoted of saying "they were going to run the grocery store out of business - as I said we are in a mountain community 3,500 ft elevation it is known as "the snow line" we get some snow 4 to 10 inches mostly but every year or so 18 to 24 comes in and dew to this being CA some times it is quite wet and heavy OK Dollar G is cheap on everything so the must have been cheap on their building as on our first snow fall this year it was heavy and deep 30 inches on my driveway. This was too much for the new Dollar G store as the roof caved in, destroying the building - no word of them rebuilding.

Keep your head high, but do not hide. You are a photographer. I am a photographer, also, I just use Pentax gear, and am proud of the fact. Regardless of the name on the camera it is only a tool to record our visions.

All you have to do is be an empty nester moving from your big house to something smaller — a different house, an apartment, or senior living — and all the slides will go away and the prints will be culled to a favorite few.

I must amicably disagree. I have taken movie films, or film and digital photos since the late 1960s. I also inherited the many thousands of feet of movie films my father took as far back as the late 1940s. In my lifetime I have had around a dozen, or more, mailing addresses. I still have the majority of the movies, slides, and photographs (film and digital) referenced above. Those images are of great sentimental value to me and even if I transferred it all to digital I think I'd still keep the originals.

Edit: When I typed my response above, I had not looked to see this appeared on page four. I was thinking maybe page two. Sure has brought out many comments and thoughts.

What a wonderful sight, "Old Glory" waving not from the wind but from the last breath of every man and woman who gave their life to keep it as a symbol of freedom and liberty.

The first photo does not have impact. It is just two birds. The second is much more interesting. The extra branch and the bird add something that possibly, in my mind, is a story or a question. Just an added dimension, sort of.
