Ok, gonna think for a little bit, knowing I may lose out Would not necessarily need grip if you need it for another.

Also agree this is great info and thank you.....I am only 1 year into photography and for the last 5 months have been largely inactive due to my husband having a severe stroke....he is home now but I am finding I have less time than I did when he was an inpatient......regardless I have a D7200 and a D750......had tried the ec with one.....don’t recall which now.....but thought either I or the camera was defective. Thanks for the info!

I would suggest googling “Chelsea and Tony Northrup tutorial” for your particular camera.,....canon 5si or whatever it is. Having never done any photography, I purchased my first DSLR 6 mo. ago and found the manual overwhelmingly confusing.....the tutorial was at first also, but then I rewatched in smaller increments and found it very helpful. It may not answer all your questions, but it may clear up some things.

I have D750 and a Tamron 150-600....I can shoot the 750 in crop mode but it seems megapixels will go down to roughly 10. I want to print some bird photos but doubt I will go larger than 11 x 14. Will the reduced megapixels hurt the print quality and would I be better off with a D7200 and the same Tamron Fx lens....getting the same 900mm max but not losing resolution? D7200 has a good price now...799 body only, 999 w 2 kit lenses.... not sure I need the lenses though.....thanks for input, still new and sorting through the mass of info

This has probably been beat to death in the past but either before my time here, or before I knew enough to pay attention.....have a D750 with a 70-300 NIKKOR lens...wanting better bird shots and have looked at the Nikon 200-500, Tamron 150-600 (slightly lighter than the Nikon but I think the same price) and wanting to look at the Sigma 150 - 600 but have not yet tried it....Sigma is $300-400 less than the Tamron and while price matters so does quality. Any opinions from those of you who may have used any, or all, of these? Thank you.

For a D3400 I use a manfrotto that I got at Murphy’s camera in Clarksville, In. They purchased a large quantity before last Christmas at a good price and did not sell them all......price is $49.99 .....you could call them and see if it suits your needs......works for me., you would probably have yo pay S & H, but still pretty cheap. In. Store is 812-283-6121(7% tax).........Ky store is 502-485-1500(6% tax) Hours 10-6 EST.

Thanks for the input.....after watching the video, I think I for sure need to keep the 18-55, if nothing else indoors.....they are only offering 35.00

Recently joined, have D3400, new to photography. Am not satisfied with the kit telephoto lens, 70-300mm, and am considering trading in both kit lenses....the above and the 18-55mm, as reviews both here and elsewhere, seem to indicate the Tamron would do a better job at both ends of the spectrum. Does anyone have a reason to NOT make the trade? Being new, and living on social security, I a) don’t want to jump ahead of myself, and b) can not afford to get it wrong.
My complaint with the kit telephoto relates to not being able to get close enough bird shots. The only drawback I know of trading is perhaps taking more time to focus. Thanks for any advice......one more thing.....does the Tamron actually do a good job with macro photography as well...
Sounds too good to be true, and when that happens it usually is not true, thus my skepticism.

Many thanks to all who have responded with such great info. I have no friends doing photography so asking a direct question here and getting so much help from experienced folks is very beneficial and greatly appreciated!

New to group and photography...am 67 and purchased an entry level (1st DSLR) Nikon D3400 in December. Having a great time with it, have shot exclusively in manual mode to learn how to use the camera and maneuver the different settings and have learned more than I ever realized I did not know, but still lots to learn. Am wondering when and why you would use shutter priority or aperture priority over manual mode.....I can guess it would speed things up but if that is the case when would you know to use those settings? Thanks for any input you can give.
