Both are excellent lenses. The thing to note is the recent different philosophies of the two companies. Sigma tends to maximize sharpness, sort of quality above all, so their new Art/Sports lenses are often big and heavy. Tamron lenses are usually smaller and lighter, and IMO better ergonomically-designed. In the lens you specified, the Sigma Sports version weighs 63.7 oz. vs. the Tamon which weighs 52.4 oz. That's a difference of 11 oz. The Sigma is a little longer, by 1/2 inch.

If I were to make a choice, I would choose the Tamron, even though it might well be a tad less sharp, jsut because of the lighter weight and in my book better ergonomics. Not bashing Sigma at all, I own their 24mm/1.4 and 50mm/1.4 Art lenses.

I have both. I have a Canon mount Tamron 24-70mm F/2.8 G2 which I love and a Canon mount Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 which I also love. The Tamron has image stability which the Canon does not and that was important to me.

Check the specs carefully.

Image stability could be deal breaker

You pays your penny and takes your choice. Some love them and produce formidable results. Over decades, every time I've bought an off brand lens, it has gone away as soon as I could afford OEM. You may have better luck!

This is one of my favorites of this series. Classic pyramid composition with triangles. The lighting is spot on, thanks to Bryce of MPW, and her expression is strong. Shot at F13, ISO 400, 1/100 sec. Multiple Strobes.

What does this figure pose suggest to you? I'm looking for ideas to adapt it into another image. Thanks.

This series suggests a rather unusual collection of Christmas tree ornaments. She could hang from my tree any time.
