Thank you for your comments Curmudgeon. Unfortunately lack of funds will preclude many of those vehicles from seeing restoration. Some of the worst ones are being used for parts to keep others going.

Your photo certainly catches the eye Tom. Looks like something from Grand Designs. A caption could read "What were they thinking?". As Frank (Mangles) suggested I have also read that placing the slats diagonally may add strength to the structure.
