As only 485 Duesenberg cars were made from 1929 to 1937, both cars are very rare and valuable. They both had the same powerful engine...an 8 cylinder in-line configuration making 265 HP. They each also carried the reputation of being among the very finest cars in the world.

The first car here is J-237 with the the Derham Town Car body. It was designed to showcase the owner amongst any gathering of the rich and accomplished. It was sold to the President of the Pepsodent Company.

The second car, a Model J, was made to exhibit the sporting character of the owner as he, or she, moved amongst the layers of that environment. Paramount, of course, was projecting an image appropriate to their level of success. the owner of this car was the President of the Wrigley Company, the chewing gum king.

Thanks, Jack.

I have to assume that these cars drew a crowd wherever they showed up. Even rich people were impressed by the trappings of the ultra rich bunch.

Thanks for the visit.

I can imagine what the actual driving experience was like. What I can't draw a parallel to is what it must have been like to get treated as America's version of royalty.
