I have a 105mm macro and am able to get the 1:1 photos, but how can I get those great macro shots showing bug eyes, etc.? I've read about a clip-on macro attachment to a lens that will enable this, but don't know the name of it. Anybody familiar with it, and any other ideas are greatly welcomed.
to your photography. In contrast, 2x doublers and screw-in diopter lenses do not have the coatings you need to preserve image contrast, and simple lenses introduce chromatic aberration.
To "get those great macro shots showing bug eyes", you need enough light (available or speedlight) to shoot at smaller apertures. With my Nikkor 105G, I routinely shoot at ISO 400, 1/200-sec at f/22, using a SB-600 Speedlight as my light source. Tubes will require a bit more light, or a bit larger aperture.
