Sorry but that's not quite right. If you read the article and look at the star ratings, the numbers are not a ranking. The A1 is number 10, and "The Sony A1 is the king of the hill – for now. It combines resolution, speed and out-of-this-world video specs." But to be fair the R3 was not part of the mix, though the Z9 was.

I did read the article and respectfully have to disagree. The numbers are definitely a ranking, just not the kind of ranking you are probably thinking they refer to. They aren't referring to just the best technical body, in terms of sensor quality, af, fps, etc. In fact the descriptor under the first camera, the Fujifilm says "The BEST COMBINATION of features, performance and value for enthusiasts."

As to the star ratings you mentioned, the #1 Fujifilm X-S10 has 4 1/2 stars, while the #9 Canon EOS R5 has 4 stars. And besides, when you look down the list of 10, the star ratings go up and down.

The article certainly isn't saying the Fujifilm is a better camera body than the Canon, but for some people it's a better choice, when all factors are taken into consideration.

Seems like the the whole point of the counterpoints to this thread is that even if the Fro (what's all that hair about anyways?) loves the Canon, it may not be the best choice for many. BTW, I would like to see a comparison of the final products of his photoshoots using a similar Sony, Nikon and Canon. I would bet one would be hard pressed to see any difference in the quality of the pics.

I snorted my coffee. A list that starts with a cropped-sensor camera and has three crops in the top 5 of 10, please.

I did say "all factors considered". That includes value to cost ratios, etc. for the buyer(photographer).

If we gave two people each a mirrorless camera and lens, and after a week we learned only one had been given a Canon, who do you think will be better?

Depends on the capabilities of the photographer. I'm quite sure that I could use the top rated Canon and give you a Nikon Z50 with a kit lens, and your photos would probably run rings around mine.

Still keeping my Nikons and Sonys. :-)

Now there's a link to click on ...

And here's another link from the same site: https://www.digitalcameraworld.com/buying-guides/the-best-mirrorless-camera

Canon is #9 out of 10, when all factors are considered.

Every successful photographer is driven by an inner voice telling them Canon is the better camera.

CHG_CANON, I have appreciated several of your posts, as I have found them helpful and informative. Thank you. However, I have also noticed the “tongue-in-cheek” manner of some of your dialogue, such as this thread, through which the hyperbole (EVERY successful photographer) seems intended more to engender heat rather than light. I look at it more like you’re just poking a stick down a Badger hole to see what happens. No matter. The whole thing brings a smile to my face. I’m still happy with my Nikons and Sonys.

■ Those who have invested in large high resolution sensor cameras will want to defend their investment.

Why would they need to? Regardless of whether or not any of the rest of us thinks someone else's investment is 'smart', it's their money to spend as they wish. They shouldn't feel like they need to defend anything.

As to the rest of your post...Excellent! Thanks.

Ah, so you're saying JPEG is real and RAW is imaginary! Got it.

Seems like about a dozen people saying virtually the same thing a dozen different ways. But it is entertaining! :-)

I have a 1.12 TB Fusion Drive, but I'm not sure what that is, I'll have to look it up.

Fusion drive is hybrid: some solid state memory and mostly spinning hhd. We have one in the sound booth at church. Don't like it much. I think it's supposed to boot from ssd part but then store most files on spinning drive. It doesn't perform nearly as well as any of the MacBook pro's we have. My current system is MacBook Pro M1 Max. Loving it. Lr, LrC and PS all work well on it.

Did you buy it new and how long ago was it?

New from B&H, five months. Thought I would use it more. I like my mirrorless better. I have a Nikon Z6ii and Z7. Also Sony A7iv and A7r iv. I am also selling a Z6.

With a Mac, you can get shutter count by selecting and opening file in Preview, Command I, Select more info, I select Nikon; shutter count shows as follows:

That is very handy. Sadly it doesn't work on my Sony cameras. But the shutter count app does.

Why the sale?

I’ve become so comfortable with my mirrorless cameras and I never bring the DSLR’s out to shoot. I’ll be listing my D500, D750, and D7200 when I get time.

No website. Shutter Count app for Mac is on App Store. Pretty sure it was free.
