Pretty soon stupidity will become acceptable. That's how coo pon is becoming kyoo pon. Let's all succumb to the idiots. LOL[/quote]

Not so fast . . . Wikipedia has this to say about coupon: "A common alternate American pronunciation is /ˈkjuːpɒn/ KEW-pon." Growing up in the Midwest, that is the way I learned how to pronounce it. To say "coo pon" was considered an affectation.

Beautiful, perfectly exposed shot. I love night pics, but don't get out to do them because eyes won't let me drive at night. Hoping cataract surgery in January will remove that restriction.

I don't know the details on the use of the big guy. It was refurbished by Union Pacific for the purpose of keeping the steam age of railroading alive.

Forgot to mention -- pic taken by my son, David, who braved cold and snow for three hours while I -- the old guy -- stayed home by the fire.

There are places where it is real close. If you go South from the town of Shiprock on 391 to Red Rock Highway and turn right, about 4 miles down red Rock Highway it will be very close on your right. There is a dirt road to the right that will take you even closer and there is a large parking lot where you can park and walk even closer.

Here is one I took from that location looking South to North. The Black an White I took from a different location looking from East to West. Here is another from the same location, but with a more dramatic sky taken at a different time.

Thanks! Your views give a different aspect. "Shiprock" is actually at the end of a line of similar jagged rocks. Very interesting.

A really remarkable shot. I've been enamored of Shiprock ever since it played a role in a Hellerman mystery I read. Got a pic of it from the highway once, but of course it was far away. Could you please tell me how far it is from the highway? Thanks.

Headed out just before sunrise Saturday morning I saw this in the rear view mirror and decided to stop long enough to grab this shot. Then went on my way to shoot an old truck and barn in the early morning light.

Fantastic photo!
All I ever see in my rear view mirror is a flashing red light.

Constructed in 1895, the Biltmore Estate is 175,000 sq ft with 33 bedrooms, 65 fireplaces, and 43 bathrooms. The cost of construction was $6 million, which in today's dollars is $1.6 Billion. Well worth the $70 per person cost of admission.

Went there in early 1950s. Wife's brother driving. Got to gate, was told admission was $8 each and he wouldn't pay it. Turned around and went home. (And the brother had a supervisor's job at Motorola!!!)
