Beginning Photographer with limited budget ($1,000.00) who wants to move from point and shoot to camera for more control over resulting images. Have narrowed search to Nikon D5600 per weight and features BUT Nikon’s discontinuing its D5600 production (and its total workforce by 30% per restrictions placed by Japanese government). So, D5600 camera I ordered with two lenses in November 2020 may never be delivered. Nikon D7500 is too bulky, heavy for me; making videos is not my main focus. Taking classroom online instruction via Zoom with specific weekly assignments. How advise me: find D5600 now, stick with my Fujifilm EXR 660 point and shoot or do something else? Thanks!

You said "have narrowed search." Does that mean you eliminated some very fine Fuji cameras, which you have a basic understanding of its philosophy of cameras with your point-and-shoot? How about Pentax? It has the K70 or KP, both of which are weather sealed whereas the D5600 is not, and it has a faster shutter speed and other features that are just as good if not better. It's ok to consider something other than Nikon.

On our local free to advertise buy & sell website (serving about 150,000 people) there are for sale 36 Canons of various models and only 15 Nikons. Not that I'm a Nikon fan per se however it does, I think, indicate more people hang on to their Nikons and more people dump their Canons

You cannot extrapolate anything from the ad. The next edition might not have ANY cameras or maybe the number might get reversed, 30 Nikons and 12 Canons with a few Sony and Pentax thrown in.

Although I generally shoot wildlife, I’ve recently been wishing I had a wide-angle lens. The closest I have now is my EFS 15 - 85mm. I know nothing about wide-angle lens. For example, will my field of vision be greater with a lens of the same mm but that bills itself as a wide angle? About the only thing I know for sure is that I don’t want a fisheye.
I plan to use the lens primarily for landscapes.
Thank you in advance for your time and advice.
With the holidays depleting the stock of camera companies, keep the following link bookmarked and check it often. It is the link for Canon refurbished lenses. Many of us on UHH buy refurbished and Canon, in my opinion, offers the best bang for your buck because you'll get a one-year warranty on ANYTHING marked refurbished. Some have suggested the 10-18 lens but, unfortunately, it is out of stock in the refurbished ones. That's why you should bookmark it and keep checking back often. However, the difference in cost between refurbished and new is only $60. Here are the links:

Is it me or has anyone else noticed that camera prices have shot up the last few days? also the value of the cameras we want to sell has dropped like used junk. Maybe it’s the Covid or Christmas, but I was really disappointed at what I was offered for my gear and what they were asking for theirs.😡
You'll almost always get more of what you want by selling it privately to an individual. Retail will ALWAYS offer a lower figure than what you want or think something is worth. They're in business to make a profit, you know that. Look for local camera clubs or someone you know to get more of what it's worth to you.

Does anyone have experience with this camera ? What do you think ?
Thanks
Yes, I currently have one that was bought refurbished from Canon. I love the ease of taking photos and the 1200mm equivalent lens is great for moon shots or anything of distance away. It's a great camera.

You people are the best for advice ! 16 year old granddaughter has Canon EOS T6 i and Canon EF zoom EF 70- 300MM with image stabilizer. She is a photographer for a summer semi-pro baseball team & also likes taking ocean scenery, sunsets etc. She started photography about 4 years ago. She isn't asking, but we grandparents are. We suggest online courses, upgrade camera etc. Few relatives would split cost so not big deal.
I realize its person behind camera but would like your opinions. Thank you kindly.

For additional lenses, try Canon refurbished lenses. These have been re-conditioned by Canon technicians to like new and come with a one-year warranty. Can't beat it and MANY photographers here on UHH buy this way.

Nothing is as straightforward as a cell phone. Pandemic aside. Cell phones have had an impact on the loss of market share for DSLR's.
Psst! What I'm about to say, let's keep it to ourselves because I want ALL of our favorite camera companies to thrive. I've been noticing a LOT of sites where cellphone photos are posted and an overwhelming number of them have been taken with the phone held vertically, not all, but a lot. So if these people amazingly discover that holding the phone horizontally gives them a truly awesome photo of that gorgeous sunset or some other wide shot, we are doomed.

I know they are a reputable company, but I am feeling a little apprehensive about giving them this info. Would like to hear your opinions and/or experiences when selling to them.

Try the D5600. Comparing it with your D7100, Nikon says that with the battery and card, the D7100 is 765g and the D5600 is 465g. That's close to a pound of weight which can be significant to the photographer. Now compare the two and see what you would gain or lose.

As some others have suggested, there are some excellent point and shoot cameras out there which can bring excellent results while being much less cumbersome for you.

I am a self taught "photographer" and use a Nikon 7100 with an 18-300 AF-S DX Nikkor lens. I love taking pictures of landscapes, architecture, people, actually anything. I love this camera and lens. Unfortunately, due to a recent medical issue with my arms, the camera and lens are too heavy for me to use any more. I'm looking to buy a lighter camera. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should look at? What about mirror-less cameras? I've done some research but haven't found a replacement yet. Thanks.

At a young 84 I find I am no longer able to hold my D750 steady enough for good images. Unless I use a tripod most images are soft. I have tried monopod with some success but I really like to shoot street photography so that does not work well. It has been suggested by some of my camera club friends that I may be able to hand hold a lighter camera. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The mirror less 4 3rds such as Olympus OM-DE-M10 Mark IV looks like it would be a lot lighter than the D750. Any experience with mirror less 4 3rds?

I may be going to Iceland in early March, Covid willing, and am trying to decide which lenses to bring. I have two Oly m5s that have a 2x crop factor. Trying to travel light, but will bring my tripod. I’m thinking my 9-18 wide angle, 12-40 Pro f/2.0 that’s weathersealed, and a 14-150 that’s weathersealed. I also have a 75-300, a macro, and a 25 f/1.8. Oh, and a Tough TG6! This is a photographer’s trip hosted by Hunt’s here in Boston. There will be an instructor and a local photographer guide.
So Icelandic travelers, what do you think? Do I need 2 cameras? Do I have enough reach with the 14-150? Should I include my 25? how much of a difference is there between 9 and 12 in terms of wide angle?

Did anyone on UHH capture photos of Mars last night? If so, what settings did you use? I'm asking as a means of learning. I have a Canon sx540 bridge that has an equivalent 1200mm reach but just not sure what to use for fstop and shutter speed. I also have a tripod to help with stability. Thanks for your input.
