My family and I spent two weeks birding in Joshua Tree, San Diego and areas outside of Los Angeles. I am sharing five birds of the 18 new-to-us birds we saw: phainopepla, Harris’s Hawk, a road runner, cactus wren and a California towhee. Please enjoy the downloads.

Ha ha! That’s been my story too. While on this trip, we saw 18 or so birds not found on the east coast. I hadn’t even thought about the kingfisher, and voila! Thanks for looking!
