My experience:

I have a Tokina 11-16 EF mount(but designed for Crop sensor) that vignettes severely from 11 to 15 mm, so if I keep it, it will be as a 16mm lens only. Rough Calculation, at 11 mm, the usable portion of the picture is approximately the equivalent of the 16 mm would deliver.

I also have a Sigma 18-250 that also shows vignetting out to about 70-100mm; so I am replacing two of my favorite lenses as I move to the EOS R body with the empty adapter

Canon EF lenses (true EF) work flawlessly, although I have a 70-300 that has difficulty keeping up with the EOS R's focussing speed, and it chatters at times

Trying to time your purchase will only leave you with regrets.

I learned when I bought my T90 that you do not look at new tech until you can afford to buy, and then you buy the best you can get for the money you have budgeted (+/- 50%). Never look back!

Mrs. Murphy laid down the law and never allowed the old man to buy a camera or computer because she knew that a newer model would come out the very next day, and he would want the newest, latest, greatest, bestest model. That is why all of Murphy's laws are hand written on lined yellow paper.

A) Printer Cartridges: The Pixma Pro 10 comes with full size, full fill cartridges. Nice thing about the pro10 - Pigment Inks rather than Dyes.

The warranty: Yes, Canon is now offering extended warranties with Service at Canon. Here is a link:https://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/en/catalog/carepak-plus

On October 31, I fully succumbed to a GAS attack and I purchased my new EOS R. It is beautiful, I Love it, and the price had been recently dropped from $2300 to $1800, so it seemed like a good time to buy. Bought the camera, the adapter and the (new) Canon warranty. Oh, and I bought all this at Normans Camera in Kalamazoo, MI. The guy told me I was also buying a new printer - I said I absolutely do not have room for a new printer, and he TOLD me I was buying the new printer - a PIXMA Pro 10 and he was going to sell it to me, and he was going to throw in 50 sheets of 13 X 9 Canon Luster paper, all for $350. And, he completed and handed to me the paper work for a $350 rebate, so the printer he foced me to buy was free - with ink and paper!

Part 2

In December, Canon dropped the price $300 on the EOS R and added the adapter back into the price! instead of $1800, it was now $1500! If I had only waited!

Well, Yesterday, we were in Kalamazoo (its 50 miles from us) and I told the wife I was going to stop into Normans to say "Hi"; and maybe ask a question or two....

20 minutes later, I left the store with $300 going back into my Credit Card!

I have maintained here before that the local photography store can compete with the big boys - I have proved it again. I don't believe the Printer deal would be available at Amazon, and I don't think that most stores would rebate the price difference (a) after 30 days, and (b) when they do not have to look into your eyes.

So, no I did not get screwed, I was taken very good care of by a local camera store that has battled the big boys for 62 years. If you are ever in Kalamazoo - or Grand Rapids - stop in to Normans and say hello the the good folks there. If you can't get there, Normans sells on line at the same prices as the big boys - always have, and they include service at no additional cost.

Support your Local Camera Store - They will always return the support for your needs!

Merry Christmas, Friends.

Additionally, there are no clues as to the worth of a battery; the only way to know is to actually use it. A battery collected from an old camera that is 10 years old will look exactly like a brand new one - factory rejects will also look perfect. Even on Amazon, buy batteries by the milliamphours, then the cost.

Always focus on your subject. Are you taking a picture of the reflections on the Gulf, on the cloud lighting or on the setting (Rising) sun? That is where you want to focus. remember that focus is both a verb and a noun - you focus on the area of the scene where you want to attract the focus of your viewer.

This will control where you put the horizon as well. If you are interested in the water, move your horizon up, if it is the sky, the sky, then move your horizon down (rule of thirds).

Sunrise photography begins 45 minutes before sunrise and sunset lasts for 45 minutes after the sun sinks into the middle of Texas. Adjust your schedule accordingly.

Birds, dogs, people, picnic tables, and piers only exist to provide you with foreground subjects to establish perspective on the sunset.

Do not be afraid to put your camera in the green box (full Automatic). In this mode, your choice of how the camera collects an image is severely limited, and all you have to think about is what the heck am I shooting.

Every picture - like every sentence - must have a subject. A sentence cannot be just a bunch of words, it must be part of a story. Every picture has a foreground and a background and normally a middle ground- in Alaska, it is really - REALLY - easy to photograph the background and not include anything in the foreground or the middle ground. To do so is to end up with flat lifeless pictures where the glaciers, for example could be only 3-4 feet thick, or if captured with depth, you can see that they are over a thousand feet thick.

Once you like the pictures you are capturing, you will begin to wonder how can I tell this story better, how can I - I control the light rather than just allowing the light to fall where it may. when you begin getting up before dawn JUST to take a picture, or you reserve the 3-4PM time frame in the afternoon because you know the light is better then; when you are at that point, then you can begin to move to Av and Tv, and then into manual.

Photography is art - even in the industrial field or the documentary world - it is art. I requires an amount of technical acumen to use a camera properly, but we do well to always remember that our goal with a camera is to capture what the mind sees. Without that vision, nothing!

Curved Video Display devices are designed to force you to the focal point of the display - where all lines to the screen are of equal length. This, in turn guarantees that your focus is only, can be only, on the content provided. A viewer in this position is much more receptive to advertising presented - or political views, for that matter.

The goal of using a monitor particularly one calibrated to your printer is to provide prints that show the mind of the artist. If you use a curve monitor, you should be printing to curved paper - otherwise, you have to adjust for another source of distortion.

Curved sensors for camera systems have a completely different purpose in life.
